Overmind

The Overmind is the leader of the Alien Forces.

The Overmind is also one of the five Alien Types included in the Core Box, and it's the only XXL Model in the Core Box. On its Alien Profile card, it's called "Alien Overmind", but it is referred to as just "Overmind" in many other places. The card says:

• Cost: 6 points.
• Unit Size: left blank. Unclear why; perhaps it is a reminder that it can't be deployed in Narrative Mode missions unless the scenario for a particular Mission says it can, and/or that it's a unique character and that there can't be two of them in play.
• Health: 8
• Shields: 3
• Movement: 4
• Melee Combat: 4
• Shoot Combat: range 6, value 3; range 8, value 3.
• Behaviour: Terrifying Presence.
• Ability: Protect the Overmind: when this model loses any health, one point of health per Attack may be allocated to any Adjacent friendly Value 1 or 2 model.
• Ability: Psychic Screech: once per game, instead of making a regular Attack, the Overmind can use an Interact Action to make a 3 Combat Dice Fear Attack against all enemy models within 6 Squares. No Line of Sight is required.

Alien Type

There are various different types of Alien Units, with each type being described on an Alien Profile card (sometimes also called an Alien Unit card). The Alien Types available in the Chronicle X core box are:

• Greys. The basic grunts of the Alien Forces.
• Grey Dominators. Have powerful psychic attack abilities.
• Commanders. Leads a group of Greys, making them more powerful than they would be on their own.
• Devoli Ridgewalkers. Powerful solitary fighters.
• Overmind. The big boss.

The TWILIGHT AT AREA 51 Expansion adds another type:

• Grey Tall Men.

The ABYSS Expansion adds two more types:

• Ralavar Streamcaller.
• Ralavar Waterbound.

In addition to that, a number of additional types are added via separate add-ons that just add one or two more Alien Types.
