"Online portfolio and business site of cartoonist and illustrator Kev Brockschmidt." The science fictional content is somewhat thin on the ground; he does have a few SF-related Christmas Cards (a UFO abducting Santa, and so forth) and some stefnal gags in his other panels. (Kev Brockschmidt)

"I have been an educator for 20 years in the rural byways of eastern Washington, and an illustrator of science fiction and fantasy subjects for much longer. Raised in the tradition of 50's pulp science-fiction movies and television and mesmerized by the U.S. Space Program, immersed in the imaginative musings of the great SF writers of the Golden Age, I have taken to spinning off images that share a central, unifying theme: that in infinite time, in infinite space, anything is possible. That these images should find their way to the Internet is the culmination of a lifelong dream...that of giving back to culture something of the sense of awe and mystery that beguiled this child of the 1950's and continues to do so today." (Craig Figley)

However, his work that relates to the mythos is a small proportion of his output. Clark Ashton Smith thought of him self primarily as a poet and wrote over 500 poems and prose poems... His vivid imagination along with ironic sense of humour set him apart from his contemporaries in the pulps. Smith was also a self-taught artist whose paintings, drawings and sculptures reflect the fantastic worlds of his fiction." (Boyd Pearson)

Mars in Science Fiction (scifan.com) [Updated 02-Oct-2001]
"This bibliography began as "Voyages to Mars", a two-part article I wrote for Sirius in 1993. At the time there was a boom in Mars fiction and though I tried to be as complete as possible, my article was soon out of date... Some people will wonder why I haven't included H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. This is because this bibliography is about Mars, not about Martians, and I have stuck to works set on or dealing with the planet. I have tried to include as broad as possible range of books on this theme, from planetary romances by Edgar Rice Burroughs, to hard science fiction by Kim Stanley Robinson. With one special exception, I have not included any juvenile fiction about Mars, nor have I included any media tie-ins or spinoffs." (Christine Hawkins) [Updated Oct 2001]

They call themselves the largest online bookshop in the world, and go by the initials iBS. "We have over 120,000 titles in stock" according to their FAQ. I did a search for Terry Pratchett books, and found a bunch of titles that I haven't seen yet, in several editions, all quoted in pounds, of course. The entry page is all graphic images, so if you don't have graphics enabled you'll do a certain amount of blind jumping. The first few items are sample chapters and book reviews. There's some interesting stuff here if you go exploring, for example the 6th link (from the main page) takes you to "The Naming of Things: ".. You can hang alot of baggage on a name. A character called, say, Gothmorrog is likely to be a bit of a baddie, whereas Melliandra is more likely to be a sympathetic, 'goodie' sort of a character. Filk is a type of music, loosely related to Science Fiction.

Many SF cons have some kind of filk, ranging from entire filk conventions to giving the filkers a room so they will shut up. Albedo One (eircom.net) [Updated 27-Sep-2001]
"Albedo One is the longest running Irish magazine of speculative fiction. It is our intention to run stories and a selection of non-fiction from the magazine here, on a regular basis, updating the site when the humour takes us... At present our world-view may be a little insular and provincial, given our geographical location at the edge of civilisation (the sign on the map on the ocean next to our little island reads Here Be Dragons). Hopefully, entry onto the Internet will expand our horizons. If you like what you see here, or are consumed with an overwhelming desire to read small press magazines (hard copy), please email us for details on how to get the original printed version (It's got lots more interesting stuff, honest)... The electronic version offers fiction, interviews, reviews, and will be expanded regularly." (Roelof Goudriaan)
    Concatenation (concatenation.org) [Updated 27-Sep-2001]
"The SF & F Concatenation is a volunteer-produced (semi-pro) zine by members of the European science and science fiction communities. The 1997 UK edition was primarily distributed at the 1997 Eurocon (Dublin), the 1997 Festival of Fantastic Films (Manchester), Novacon (Birmingham) and with Scary Dreams magazine (1997 autumnal edition). The Romanian edition was distributed by the Association of Romanian Science Fiction and the (Romanian) National Federation of Science Fiction Writers. The distribution of the Spanish edition is currently being organised... [the web site is] currently a subset of the print zine but over time it will be expanded with material not in the original zine." (Matthew Freestone)
    DargonZine (dargonzine.org) [Updated 27-Sep-2001]
"DargonZine is an electronic magazine (ISSN 1080-9910) that prints original medieval fantasy stories written by aspiring Internet writers. It is the publication vehicle of the Dargon Project, a collaborative writing group where authors write in a common milieu, sharing settings and characters. The project was founded to allow aspiring writers on the Internet to meet and become better writers through mutual contact and collaboration. DargonZine only prints stories which take place in this setting. DargonZine is the successor of FSFnet, which was the Dargon Project's original magazine. Between FSFnet and DargonZine, we have been continually producing collaborative fantasy fiction since 1985 and are the longest-running electronic magazine on the Internet." (Ornoth D.A. Liscomb, The Dargon Project)
    Emerald City (emcit.com) [Updated 27-Sep-2001]
"I should point out here that the 'zine has no connection whatsoever with Seattle. The name 'Emerald City' came from a tourist brochure I read when I first moved to Melbourne which described my new home as the green city in the land of Oz (other Australian cities tend to be too hot for much greenery). However, I'm delighted that the Seattle in 2002 bid committee have seen fit to advertise my fanzine on their t-shirts. Thanks guys :-)... I should point out, however, that the text that appears here is pretty much identical to that in the email and paper versions of the 'zine. I do not have much patience with the view, held by many US fanzine fans, that electronic 'zines are somehow not the real thing, and are in some way intrinsically different from paper 'zines. As far as I am concerned, it is the writing that is important, not the method of delivery." (Cheryl Morgan)

Jerry Pournelle: Chronology of Jerry Pournelle's Future History (chronology.org) [Updated 26-Sep-2001]
"Jerry Pournelle is perhaps the science fiction author most devoted to history and politics. His Future History began, not as a series of stories which he later linked together, but as his projections of a possible future consistent with "valid principles" of sociology and politics. This led to a "future" which is perhaps more pessimistic than the classic SF futures of Heinlein, Asimov, and Niven. Yet within this context he writes of those who triumph past intimidating odds, struggling for the survival of the human race... My timeline of Pournelle's future history is both a chronicle of events and a chronicle of sociology. In particular, Jerry Pournelle's twenty-first century is full of political twists that no one could believe (unless he or she knew what the twentieth century had seen, of course)." (Larry King)

Eric Frank Russell - The Forgotten Master (stageleft.com.au) [Updated 26-Sep-2001]
"I discovered the works of Eric Frank Russell in the 1980s when a good friend of mine, Moira Dahlberg, suggested that I might like his work. I'd never heard of him, unlike Asimov or Clarke, and I'd sometimes found their work a bit stodgy and dated. Lord knew what this obscure author from the 1940s would be like, but Moira liked him so I thought I'd give him a go... I was instantly hooked." Has biography, bibliography, some other commentary as well. (Narrelle Harris)

As a story, 'stats' are inappropriate; rather, the actions, thoughts, plots and plans of your character(s) are what's needed... The adventures take place on the world Ifreann, a place not so different from Earth but with far more magical energy." (Dave Womack)
