The term Hero Player(s) refer to the players (from one to six) who plays the human side in Chronicle X. The Hero Players collectively have six Hero miniatures to control, and normally they are divided so each of those players control at least one miniature.
Hero Player Phase
In Hero Player Phase, or Hero Activation Phase, the Hero Players get to activate their Heroes, one by one, in any order they choose. When a Hero is Activated, it takes its Turn, where it normally gets to make two Actions, which must be different; the same Action can't be chosen twice during one Activation.
Once during the Hero Player Phase, the Overmind Player may discard two Mutation cards to trigger an Interruption, meaning the Overmind Player gets to Activate one of it's Alien Units before the Hero Players proceed to Activate their next Hero.
The Actions available to Heroes are:
- MOVE. Move as many steps on the Mission Map as their Movement Value (or less, if they wish).
- SPRINT. Move as many steps on the Mission Map as half their Movement Value (or less, if they wish).
- ATTACK. Either make a Melee Attack against an Adjacent enemy, or a Shoot Attack against a non-Adjacent enemy in range of the Hero's Shoot Attack Value.
- OVERWATCH. Go into Overwatch mode, preparing to make a Shoot Attack if an enemy comes into attack range.
- INTERACT. Picking up an Item on the Mission Map, or interact with objects or abilities that explicitly say an Interact Action can be used.
