When playing the Conquest Mode, each side has one Fortify token they can place to make a region they control harder to Liberate. This token can be moved during each side's Global Operations Phase.
Global Operations Phase
The Global Operations Phase is a briefly occurring phase when playing the Conquest Mode. It consists of:
- The active player selects a region on the World Map to attack, either an uncontrolled region (starting a Conquer Mission) or a region controlled by the opponent (starting a Liberate Mission).
- Optionally, Fortify one region they control. This means moving their Fortify token to that region. Each side only has one Fortify token, so at most two regions on the World Map can be Fortified at the same time - one for the Hero Players and one for the Overmind Player.
Then the Global Operations Phase ends, and the Conflict Phase begins.
In each Round of Conquest Mode, the Global Operations Phase and the Conflict Phase will occur twice: first once for the Hero Players, and then again for the Overmind Player; and in both cases, it will continue into a Conflict Phase for that player.
