Studying is one of the things that I have been doing most in my life. First I studied grade 1-6 (1974-1980) in Himnaskolan, then grade 7-9 (1980-1983) in Linghemsskolan. After that it was time to start choosing what to study, and also to start traveling into Linköping to get to school.
The choice was not all that difficult. I had been interested in science in general and computers in particular for a while, so I chose the "Natur" program and ended up spending the next three years (1983-1986) at S:t Larsskolan in Linköping. This school has now been rebuilt as apartments. Thus, we were actually ahead of our time when we slept during class.
After this, I spent the next year learning how to defend Sweden from invaders. I presume they were supposed to be Russian, since I was stationed on the P18 regiment on Gotland.
After a year of boring work at a printing factory, I started to study computer science and technology at the Linköping Institute of Technology in 1988. After about three years of that (out of five) I realized that I would spend about twelve years there with the speed I currently had. Being a member of D-Group 89/90 and Staben 89 (and thus Custos Morum) did not help. But it was fun. ;-) Not being interested in either math or physics complicated things a little bit more. I took a year off from studies and sold Macintosh computers while thinking about what I really wanted to do. Then I found a new study program called DI, changed over to that with a minimum of hassle (only about a year of paperwork) and graduated from there in December 1993.
After that, I realized that you could actually study interesting things and had a look at the English literature course at the Linköping University. This proved to be a lot more fun than computer science, not only to study but also to snuggle up in a sofa with. After a while, I collected a batchelor's degree in English from here and still have vague plans of making that a master's. I've already completed all the study courses, I just have to get my thumb out and come up with an subject for a thesis (and write it).
