You are Gandalf. Ride Shadowfax into battle and zap the Black Riders, which come riding towards you in a never diminishing stream.

The animated horses in the game were actually based on one of Eadweard Muybridge's famous photographic series of a galloping horse from the 19th century.

Personal evaluation: Simple and with non-existing background and logic, still addictive and fun. Eat lightning bolts, you evil scum!!
