The Work

XIIX Canons Mélodieux ou VI Sonates en Duo by Georg Philipp Telemann consist of 6 sonatas for two flutes, violins or viola da gambas. The sonatas can also be played as 18 separate canons. It was printed in Paris in 1738. The sources I have used are facsimiles of a copy preserved at Bibliothèque Nationale de France.

This Edition

I have always tried to be as close to the original as possible. Editorial changes have been put above the staffs, or within parenthesis. Slashed figures in the continuo have been replaced with their flat/natural or sharp equivalents. I have provided two versions; one Urtext in treble clef, and one in alto clef which has been transposed one octave down.
