The Work

Per Ogni Sorte d'Stromento, Sonate da Chiesa e da Camera opera XXII by Biagio Marini consist of many small pieces; Balleto 1-4, Zarabanda 1-4, Corrente 1-4, Sinfonia 1-6, sonatas for different settings and a closing passacalia. It was printed in Venice in 1655. The sources I have used are facsimiles of a copy preserved at Civico Museo Bibliografico Musicale di Bologna.

This Edition

I have always tried to be as close to the original as possible. Editorial changes have been put above the staffs, or within parenthesis. Slashed figures in the continuo have been replaced with their flat/natural or sharp equivalents. All accidentals, both in continuo and staffs, have been converted to modern standard. Beams have been introduced.
