Thus damage happens to many different cars randomly and the outcome is even. That I say looking to results list, may be you see things differently while watching races. We still do not have an expert car that would finish every race with reasonable speed.:-( If competition turns out bigger, I would like to see an expert division again, with qualifying and 107% cut-off rules. This would make programming of passing much easier. Also, I would change the distance from which the dead_ahead is set in CARZ.CPP in our next version. Currently dead_ahead works only on slower tracks, it kills the car on indy500.trk where speeds are high and braking distance much longer. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Apr 1997 09:15:33 -0400 (EDT) From: rscott@NetUSA.Net (Ralph Scott) To: rars@lysator.liu.se Subject: Re: Yes!! That doesn't seem like something that would cause your machine to crash. It is probably something different. ---ralph ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Apr 1997 09:19:10 -0400 (EDT) From: rscott@NetUSA.Net (Ralph Scott) To: rars@lysator.liu.se Subject: Re: Some more race results Message-Id: Content-Type: text > >You know your car needs more work when it would have done better > >pointswise by just sitting on the side so that it could come in > >6th. Also, it appears that the cars are very evenly matched. I checked my car out, I still had the collision routines based on your 10x15 car size, instead of the 10x30 car size that I run. Oops, we are going to have to agree on a standard like you suggested. > I wouldn't say cars are very evenly matched by their speed, may be only > they are evenly matched in blindnesss - they don't see cars in front. If I figure it out, I'll tell yall. I don't have CARZ.CPP at hand - could you please post the offending line = + a few lines to each side of it? You say that it freezes when calling your car, but you're still able to = step through it? Does this mean that it freezes when you return?
