Tim ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 20:27:38 +1000 From: Anthony Cornish Subject: Paradise Motel Greetings, To all those living in England at the moment, keep an eye out for the Paradise Motel, who have departed Australia (where i live) for a one-year tour of the UK. They blew me away at their final show here. After the show, I spoke to one of the band members who was _quite_ familiar with Slowdive / Mojave, Telescopes and Spiritualized. A remix by Mogwai is expected soon... read below.. Anthony. THE PARADISE MOTEL PLAY READING FESTIVAL The Reading "people" were scouting out the London scene last week when they stumbled across one of Australia's finest exports - The Paradise Motel. Playing along-side the fine American sounds of Sparklehorse through the UK, The Paradise Motel knocked so many socks off at their first few shows that the organisers of Reading just couldn't resist offering them a spot on the Reading bill. The band's debut album in the UK, Left Over Life To Kill, has been such a sweet taster for English audiences that the band's current Australian album, Flight Paths, has now been scheduled for release in the UK for September. 'Hollywood Landmines' will be the first single released fromthe forthcoming album in the UK, around August. We'll benefit from all this action in the UK when the Mogwai mix of the brilliant Cars cover, 'Drive' , lands back in Oz later this year. In the meantime, The Paradise Motel set off to the USA for a performance at the North By North West conference in September when their debut album, Left Over Life To Kill, is released in America. Then it's back to the UK for further touring after the Reading Festival. So, if you're planning a trip to the UK in August, make sure you're at the Dr. Marten's stage at the Reading Festival at 2.30pm in Friday 28 August to see The Paradise Motel, Australia's most majestic performances. The world news is The Paradise Motel news. Spread it like the plague. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Venue/1392/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 11:49:16 -0700 (PDT) From: Lynh Nordville Subject: Pale Saints CDs Hello everyone, I have four Pale Saints CDs from my collection to sell. Sorry, wasn't ment for the list... > Hi there, > has your store got in mind remixes cd on sale? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 11:23:34 -0700 From: Kevin Wood Subject: Solarium needs a guitarist! Solarium is a San Francisco noisepop/space band with a single out on Drive-In records, and we've been together for about a year and a half, and have recently been trying to get ourselves together to give it a little more, play more shows than we have been, etc. We need a guitarist with musical tastes that mesh with ours -- Spiritualized (not necessarily the last album though), Mogwai, Stereolab, My Bloody Valentine, VU, Yo La Tengo, etc, who is a good listener and can figure out what sounds good with what we're doing, but who also has the ability to come up with ideas for us all to explore, turn into songs, etc. Ideally this theoretical guitarist would be comfortable hitting a few keyboard notes as well, eventually some vox, and maybe even jumping onto bells/percussion every once in a while; also he/she would be willing to experiment with sound and multiple guitar effects, etc. You gotta have your own equipment and be willing to practice about twice a week, not be a psycho or overly self-serious, and not be too afraid of playing live. If this sounds like you send an email to solarium8@hotmail.com and we'll set something up. Oh yeah, we're playing at the Bottom of the Hill on August 31th, so if you're a quick learner that's a plus... ...kevin wood ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jul 1998 13:06:43 -0400 (EDT) From: Alvin de Leon Subject: some kinda angel mojave 3 - some kinda angel does anybody know when the new cdep will be released??? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jul 1998 16:09:57 -0400 From: "Mark Stancombe" Subject: Re: some kinda angel > mojave 3 - some kinda angel > does anybody know when the new cdep will be released??? So the new EP is released in Canada three weeks before it is released in the UK? September 7th says 4AD (and I suppose they mean in the UK). Does anyone know if there are additional different releases? How about Japan for example? //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Aug 1998 14:36:21 -0700 (PDT) From: Lynh Nordville Subject: Re: Pale Saints CDs May I ask you why are you telling me that? ---Espsummer@aol.com wrote: > you have to be crazy to sell those cds...........CRAZY ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Aug 1998 20:33:14 +0200 From: "LOSING TODAY" Subject: mojave3 Does anyone know where can i find the new Mojave3 single??? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 15:15:14 -0700 From: Kevin Wood Subject: Bedhead break up I dont know how many of you guys are fans, and maybe I am biased since I am from Texas and spent most of my college days seeing Bedhead on a regular basis, but I really think they were a brilliant band and this kinda sucks... oh well.... a nice, but kinda sad, letter written by Matt Kadane(the main guy) regarding the break-up is here http://www.brainwashed.com/bedhead/news.html ...kevin wood ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Aug 98 15:14:23 CST From: Crios@dminet.davidson-marketing.com Subject: Puddleglum...
