I'm > guessing the eps will be hard, but at least I know what I'm looking for. Yeah, their first three EP's: "Jack", "Reprise" and "Cool breeze" are all very difficult to come by. If you really wanted them your best bet would be to post to wantlists offering between $15-$20 each for them (some may say that that's a bit much but those that have these EP's generally know how valuable/rare they are and would need some persuading to part with them). However, you can hedge youyr bets and get their US sampler EP called "Sonny and Sam" that isn't easy to find either but http://gemm.com has a couple of copies listed as being available for around $10 each (although I wouldn't have a clue as to whether or not the sellers that are listed as having them actually have them in stock, still). If you can get this EP, then grab it (it's a compilation of out-takes from the 3 EP's I just mentioned and virtually a collectors item in it's own right). Other than the "Sonny and Sam"-era stuff, all their other stuff really shouldn't be that much of a problem to come by. I have seen it all listed at Gemm and I have one friend on the 'net who has sold multiple copies of all their albumcs over the past few months and will probably come across more if you wanted his details to contact him about it... I think that if there are, lets say, four guys in a band and just one girl, doesn`t matter if she`s good looking or not, it just takes that one girl to balance their act so to speak. Vice Versa, if there are four girls and one guy in a band the guy just dissapears and everyone says that they`re a girl group. bye ! /markus ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 08:38:24 -0400 From: "Mark Stancombe" Subject: Re: rachel similarities Hey... > 1. the liberation of women is not a bad thing nor a wrong thing, however > annoying its proponents might be. Its a little inconsistant because each track is remixed by someone different. Overall, I think the tempo on most of the tracks are too fast to give a good comparison to pygmalion, but I see what you're saying --- the first track has a similair "eerie" feel to it. If you like "Low" and have an open mind (about remixes) then I highly recommend this CD............I though that CD was released last week in the US --- maybe not, maybe I just got an advanced copy??? I'm afraid Slowdive fans won't be too chuffed with it... at any rate, here goes: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ NME Single of the Week - 25th July 1998 Reviewed by Johnny Cigarettes Mojave 3 Who Do You Love The first in our series of 'Where are they now, so we can still tease them mercilessly and chase them down the street with sticks after all these years?' shoegazing revival reviews (see also Swervedriver) finds Neil Halstead and Rachel Gosling, {yes, they spelled Goswell wrong!} once of Slowdive, involved in a quite shockingly fine record. The chief reason for this is that they've written songs rather than a series of 'soundscapes' with vague sentiments about drowning in the sky. 'Who Do You Love' is the kind of honest, heartfelt, laid-bare love song men are too scared or too cool to write these days, romantic without being sentimental, unafraid to be plain-spoken and emotional. It's like sonic cathedrals never happened - an acoustic guitar surrounded by lazy organ and a distant trumpet. And then, almost as good is 'This Road I'm Travelling' which is truly sublime, all country-inflected harmonies and hazy sunset acoustics like Nick Drake on holiday in New Mexico. OK,then, we forgive you. Just this once. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 10:27:48 -0500 From: o_o_o Subject: 'Who Do You Love' where are people buying this single online? Contact Tim @ 4ad via email and he will email info back: timhall@almaroad.co.uk Having said all that; she also pointed out that she's not too sure if there are any left (the limited edition thing and all). I liked neil better around 91-92 with the more bowl type hair cut. before he began wearing the flannels and had that flow-bee looking haircut... For the most part, shoegazer guys aren't of the extremely attractive variety, but they have this air to them that well, I'd be attracted to, provided guys were my bag. It seems like i used to be interested in girls in bands. Recently, it's been a little backwards. I dig some girl, and then FIND OUT she's in a band. I think there's this air of confidence, or at least a belief in one's self that you need to have or cultivate to get up on a stage and spill out your insides. Plus the fact that you've progresses far enough in a band to be able to get out and get shows says something as well. All those traits I find attractive, I think they make people interesting. Hey, the girl I'm more or less seeing now plays guitar, synth, knows midi, sings in some electronic/industrial type band, etc. I found most of this out after I decided she was pretty cool;) The I realised, "hey, she's cooler than I thought." And let me also say that long distance relationships suck. that's all... > nice to see the tables turn for once... :) It's fun. Oh yeah, and Andrew Greenburg, the bassist for Feedback Loop, is this little young cute guy. At MANY shows I'll be approached by some girl. She'll say, "come here," and pull me aside. Once we're alone, or out of earshot of everyone, she'll ask, "Does your bass player have a girlfriend." "YES! Bugger off." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 13:44:25 EDT From: ALTONBARNS@aol.com Subject: Mojave 3 Real Audio Hi Some kind soul has just posted this to the indiepop list....seems that there is a Real Audio of the new Mojave 3 single for those who have not heard it yet.
