However, I tested out a new turntable I just got with: slowdive take me down/beach song 7"flexi the cure happily ever after [2LP] -mainly the seventeen seconds part (side two) The The Uncertain Smile 12" Love & Rockets If There's A Heaven Above 12" and other random 7"s/12"s from the dusty vaults Maybe I'll pull out the catch the breeze/shine 7" for fun as well [if I can find it] Does anyone have any interesting opinions on vinyl vs. cd as far as audio/sound quality is concerned... For Example; are there any particular releases that you swear sound better on vinyl than cd & why? In other news: I've essentially been off-line for a few months and http://pw2.netcom.com/~rboge/slowdive.html will be moving (to an address t.b.d since that account is inactive). ...more info when it becomes available... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Jul 98 12:52:33 CST From: Crios@dminet.davidson-marketing.com Subject: Windy and Carl Just found out that Windy and Carl are playing tommmorrow at the Empty bottle in Chicago... New Order and Joy Division - especially the Martin Hannet Produced stuff sounds absolutely fantastic on a beat up old vinyl record...probably this is because of the frequencies where the vocals range - low-mids. That spacey echo as well that was used alot on the drums and guitars just seems to sound better with the extreme high ends just chopped off. Rutti 2. Primal 3. So Tired 4. Brighter 5. In Mind Reload Remix There, that looks about right. I don't mean to be a snobby person who says his favorite songs are live songs you've never heard but I honestly would stick one live song right near the top of the list. It's that one song they played for an encore at the november '91 show in belgium. I still haven't found anyone who can tell me whether this is Curtains And Carpet or something different. I didn't list it though, simply because a friend of mine borrowed the videotape over a year ago and has seemed to have lost it. Now I can't quite remember how it goes. Sad. Favorite album: I don't know. All three. They aren't very similar. aaron ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 16:32:47 -0400 (EDT) From: Alvin de Leon Subject: Re: SLOWDIVE POLL Same Vote.... -allan Ant...let me know if you still want to do the trade... ciao On Sat, 11 Jul 1998 Espsummer@aol.com wrote: > favorite slowdive tracks > > 1. waves > 2. morningrise > 3. here she comes > 4. allison > 5. catch the breeze (typical eh? bet this song wins) > > > best album : just for a day...... > > if i thought of "blue day" as an album i'd make that my choice but it > feels like a single to me........... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 16:58:14 EDT From: M242557sm@aol.com Subject: slowdive poll Favourite SLOWDIVE TRACKS (From any release or live tracks) 1. ballad of sister sue 2. allison 3. spanish air 4. slovaki space station 5. blue skied an clear Favourite SLOWDIVE ALBUM (Just For A Day, Soulvaki, Pygmalion, Blue Day) 1. just for a day ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 17:24:23 EDT From: Catchbreez@aol.com Subject: Re: SLOWDIVE POLL when the sun hits avalyn dagger blue skied and clear spanish air album souvlaki ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Jul 1998 01:32:11 +0300 From: Peter Peltonen Subject: Re: my list Shaun Schmeisser wrote: > > > 6. gusgus - standard stuff for drama > > Wat dis? Personally, I could see this comming to, but hey, I've never seen everyone so happy to post on this site before - afterall it IS the Avalyn site, and lets face it, its not like theres a lot ot talk about since the demise of Slowdive. To each his own, and hey - whats with the profanity? Anyways, heres my top 5: 01.) When The Sun Hits 02.) Waves 03.) Catch The Breeze 04.) Shine 05.) Losing Today - Favourite record: Blue Day (even though its an EP), if not then Souvlaki I thin stands out best as a whole (the import version with the In Mind single B-sides on it) Cheers...
