There will be no profit made from these CDs when distributed through this network - I hope that no one will try and make a profit off of them either and just freely distribute them to any fan that wants them...I paid $500.00 for a CD bootled of U2's Achtung Baby Sessions (3CDs)...nobody should have to do this... They are supposed to be pretty good, though I dig allison's halo very much. They're on IPR (Independent project records). Parasol distributes IPR, so you can order from them. However, a band from the same label/scene is half-string, which I recommend greatly. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jun 1998 09:27:41 -0400 From: "Mark Stancombe" Subject: Re: Re[2]: Slowdive Compilation: Hey Everyone...! Well, I certainly have been doing my homework here so I'll just bring you up to date on what I've got so far. I have compiled a preliminary "wish list" of what the bootleg might contain. I've decided that we should try and assimilate at least one live version for each non-album (ie: Souvlaki, Just For a Day) song. This will cover all of the non-album published songs as well as the unrecorded songs. Anyways, heres the list: Songs Published (Live): 01.) Avalayn 02.) Slowdive 03.) Morningrise 04.) She Calls 05.) Losing Today 06.) Song 1 (Shine) Songs Unpublished (Live): 07.) Colours In Spin 08.) Bleed 09.) Curtains And Carpet 10.) Silver Screen 11.) Joy 12.) Untitled 13.) Song 2 Peel Sessions: 14.) Catch The Breeze 15.) Song 1 (Shine) 16.) Golden Hair If you have any more material to add to this, let me know! (ie: radio sessions etc). I might be able to contribute some demos or something if this trade I am currently in works out. As far as material suppliers go we have successfully tracked down quite a bit of meterial in a very short period of time. This is very good. Below is a list of concerts from which all of the material on this disc will be culled from. If you have any of these concerts in any format (CD, tape) e-mail me and I will e-mail you my address. Some already have done this and I have already -emailed my address so not to worry. For those that I have already been in correspondance with, please e-mail me specifically which concert that you have so that we can deduce exactly what we need. Again, what we're looking for from these concerts are ALL of the non-album (ie: Souvlaki and Just For A Day) songs as well as any of the new ones that were never recorded. Here is a list of dates that contain both non-album and unwritten songs: - 26/02/91: Reading England - 06/03/91: Kilburn London England - 26/03/91: John Peel Session - 28/06/91: ULU London, England - 27/07/91: Slough Music Festival - 03/09/91: Marquee London (BBC Radio Broadcast) - 29/09/91: Zap Club, England - 14/02/92: Gothenburg, Sweden - 18/02/91: Bochum Germany - 29/02/92: L'espace Paris, France - 23/02/92: Den Haag, Holland - 17/05/92: RCKNDY. Seattle Washington - 18/05/92: Harpo's Victoria BC, Canada - 19/05/92: Commodore Ballroom B.C. - 07/04/94: CBGB's NY,NY - 13/04/94: San Francisco, California - 17/05/94: Metro Chcago Illinois - 20/05/94: Forum, Toronto If your sending any material, give me your opinion on how good that particular version is, so if push comes to shove and we have more than one version we can put on the compilation that version that most people like - if possible when you send any material via mail include a rating out of 10 that includes performance quality (the quality of musicianship) and sound quality. This would help alot - I want to make sure that everyone will be happy with this. As far as distributors go, let me just say thank you to all the wonderful people that offered their support. The more distributors we have the less the number of copies each person will have to distribute. Distributors and suppliers of material - I will ensure that you all get a copy from the first run of the 20 initial printings. When the CD is ready for distribution I will give a list of distributors and where they are so that people can personally e-mail them for cost of shipping, address exchanges, etc. I really want this to work and that everyone who wants a copy could have one for only the cost of the CD plus shipping. Any questions, comments, material submissions, or distributor inquiries, please feel free to contact me at my address...cheers! Sincerely...Sillabyss (ie: Mark Stancombe...) Rachel is upgrading her computer at the moment and can't use the Internet at all because of it. She said she'd be gone for about a month (and that was about three weeks ago). Back from the Roskilde festival in Denmark where I saw Neil play with Bernard Butler (among other things). Quite an amazing show, loads of long effect laden electric guitar parts and I was just standing there hoping Neil would think something like "Well, this sounds pretty good! Maybe I should use some... hmmm" etc. ;) Of course Neil was as cool as usual on stage, and Bernard was the one hammering away on his guitar, but you know what I mean. Took a couple of photos - I'll put them up on the website as soon as the film gets developed. //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jun 1998 13:50:57 EDT From: SkyFireRed@aol.com Subject: Re: The smell of Burnt Hair In a message dated 6/30/98 6:57:03 AM US Mountain Standard Time, ben@bewley.net writes: << However, a band from the same label/scene is half-string, which I recommend greatly. >> i strongly concur. half string is definitely worth checking out. unfortunately, they have definitely broken up. kimber lanning, half string's drummer, runs an excellent record shop in tempe az called stinkweeds. you may want to check them out at http://www.abilnet.com/milkbone/milkweed.html. ive found quite a bit of stuff there i couldnt find anywhere else, and kimber of course has everything released by half string. apparently kimber is the only member of half string still making music. she started up a band called nepal, although from what she said they sound extremely casual at the moment. --james ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jun 1998 13:16:18 -0500 (CDT) From: John Roseborough Subject: Mojave 3 live at the Water Rats (fwd) I hope someone in London can go to this show tomorrow... send us a review! There are loads of venues in London ... it depends on what you want to see ... And, if you have the opportunity, you might consider travelling North to see a good gig if any are happening ... It's good fun to get out o' the London hustle and bustle to watch a band w/ "real" Britons. Well that's what those living in the provinces would have one believe anyway i.e. that one has to travel out of Greater London to see the "real England" .... I do not disagree ... however, London is way fab, yeah! good luck!! --michael ------------------------------ End of Avalyn Digest Vol.98 #93 ********************************
