Coefficient" Subject: W&C Portal #1. the only Windy and Carl i've heard is Portal and Antarctica, i owned Portal for awhile, ended up trading it for something- i don't remember what. i remember thinking there were a lot of good ideas going on, just sometimes maybe too many- plus her vocals on that record struck me more as talking than singing.... and then i heard Antarctica, and was interested to hear that they'd stripped the sound down a lot- kinda like FSA's Distant Station or Three Seas...so anyways, what does Drawing of Sound or the new one on Kranky sound like compared to those two? (the W&C albums, not the FSA ones) #2. i'm going to seem ignorant here, do forgive, but anyways- did any of the songs from Pygmalion ever get played live? (besides Love Spirals Downwards covering Visions of LA, hehe) ive always been told they broke up quite quickly after the release of Pygmalion. #3. this is completely nuts, but i figure its good for a laugh- the inside of Pygmalion, the CD, the picture of Ian- he's wearing some sort of shirt that looks like its got a open mouth/set of teeth on it- and it looks like the logo for the (thankfully) long gone Morton Downey Jr. show. anyone else see this? -pearson ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 May 1998 15:28:43 -0400 (EDT) From: Michael Gilham Subject: "... Obviously I'm reading this list too much and getting people's e-mail 'handles' mixed up w/ album titles! :-D Else, I'm just kinda dumb ;-) So yeah I meant *just for a day* up above; hopefully if, and when, I get it, it won't have any defect in it ;-) Earlier today I listened to the SxSW Mojave gig from the RS-site. It sure was great to at least _hear_ the band live again after more than a year! best, Michael [waiting to hear 'bout them Mojave tour-dates :-) ...] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 May 1998 00:17:45 +0200 From: palomar@mail.sendanet.es Subject: Re: W&C Portal > #1. the only Windy and Carl i've heard is Portal and Antarctica, i owned > Portal for awhile, ended up trading it for something- i don't remember > what. i remember thinking there were a lot of good ideas going on, just > sometimes maybe too many- plus her vocals on that record struck me more > as talking than singing.... and then i heard Antarctica, and was > interested to hear that they'd stripped the sound down a lot- kinda like > FSA's Distant Station or Three Seas...so anyways, what does Drawing of > Sound or the new one on Kranky sound like compared to those two? (the > W&C albums, not the FSA ones) > -pearson "Drawing of sound" -excelent!!- is far much better than "Portal". If you remember "Portal" last track -"Through th portal"- that's almost the way "DoS" sounds like. In most of its songs there are lyrics. They remind me of the ones David Lynch used to write for Julie Cruise. It's less boring than "Antarctica" -I also like this 3songep very very much; I love repetition- and much more beautiful. Love Jorge PS: By the way, I am new here; I got myself subscribed yesterday and this is my second message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 May 1998 00:35:30 +0200 From: Erik Soderstrom Subject: Re: Grimble Grumble> > Why not contact the band and ask themselves? > Grimble Grumble > 9922 S.Exchange Ave. > Chicago IL60617-5448 > USA I managed to get my hands on two 7"'s, the 10" and the CD album - though I'll have to wait a week or two before they arrive. > I have a fanzine called "100.000 Luciernagas" (sorry, only in Spanish!). It's a great show, and I absolutely ...Love... the new material! Does anyone have the setlist for this show with the correct songtitles to the new songs? If so please e-mail me privately, or to the list, or whatever... Thanx x1000 :-) -Steve ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 May 1998 01:31:22 -0500 (CDT) From: John Roseborough Subject: Re: Austin, TX 3/21/98 Steve, I was fortunate enough to get Rachel's set list this night. The order of the set was: 1. To Whom Should I Write 2. Caught Beneath Your Heel 3. All Your Tears 4. Who Do You Love 5. It's Your Feet You Don't* 6. Some Kinda Angel 7. Give What You Take 8. Baby's Comin Home John * On Rachel's set list, song 5 just said "acoustic". I had to catch the girl next to me who got Neil's list to see the title. It was tough to read in the dark - that's what it looked like to me. On Wed, 6 May 1998, Steve Coppolo wrote: > I've aquired a copy of the Mojave 3 show from 3/21/98 in Austin, > Texas.
