Sad, but | luckily there's history and a catalog to surprise them with. ;) | No no, don't get me wrong - I do like Garbage, but their latest | single is just too close for comfort.. | | About radio play - Garbage is getting all the radio play here in | Sweden with their new single. I even wrote to the MD of the swedish | national radio the other day asking why they play Garbage every | second hour and I still haven't heard them play one single song | from Curve's new album. No reply (of course). They did play some | Curve songs back around 93, but not many, and not often. Don't | know what they have against them. hmmmmm. its a mystery to me too... i saw them last november at kings college in london, and there was almost no promotion of the gig whatsoever. chinese burn barely got played when it was released here, and this is almost their home town... doh! but at least i got to meet toni and dean and they were pretty cool, laid back types. not the edgy, psychopathic, speed freaks that i was expecting... ps: to add more fuel to the fire..... toni was gorgeous that night. all smiley and happy before the show... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Apr 1998 06:04:51 PDT From: "dan smith" Subject: RE: terrastock west? Blimey! Where would you get the idea that CURVE were "speed-freaks"! A right laugh, that one :-) And we never did hear the make-up of the audience from the first writer! Though, I can't imagine that there'd be much of a Goth turn-out for Curve; Halliday's fashion sense aside .... au revoir Michael ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Apr 1998 10:30:05 +0000 From: "wade@tapehouse.com" Subject: lilys in NYC anyone interested, the lilys are playing in the NY area in the next couple of weeks. wade ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Apr 1998 16:40:29 +0100 From: davebp@postmaster.co.uk Subject: Re: Around the bend | Blimey! In my opinion, Bardo Pond was terrible. Their bass player muddied everything up with effects, and the music just wasn't even good experimental music. W&C on the other hand were brilliant, though they only got to do 4 songs and their time was up. wade ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Apr 1998 18:04:25 +0100 From: Kevin Wood Subject: Silver Scooter/Solarium in San Fran!!! 4/10 Come on, kids - Indiepop ahoy! Solarium opens for Silver Scooter at the Purple Onion on this Friday April 10th, for your listening pleasure. Silver Scooter are in the midst of a national tour and due to a last-minute cancellation you can fleetingly catch them at this show. This will be a good gig, capice? The lowdown from The People Who Know These Things: SILVER SCOOTER: Freshly-squeezed indiepop straight outa Austin, TX with great songwriting and melodies that stick to your ears like, um, really sticky stickers or something. Obligatory Nutshelling: Kinda like Built to Spill but they obviously have their own thing going on as well so don't even go there. SOLARIUM: Sound-focused Spacerock featuring a guitarist with too many effects, a shithot drummer, a spinetrak bassist, and a mysterious chap called "Cookie." The songs sound like the name feels. Standard Pigeon Holing: Often compared to Mogwai, the celebrated guitarscapist Glaswegians...but of course we have our own thing going as well... "Little summer storms that sometimes turn into raging wind tunnels." So to recap, it's you, Silver Scooter, and Solarium Friday April 10th at the Purple Onion around 9(or so....actually we dont really know when we are going on....). Don't drop the ball on this one or you will always wonder. p.s.(there might be an additional opening band called HAT....we have no idea what they sound like though so dont freak out and leave if you show up and there is flamenco music going on or something!) Friday April 10th, 9 PM...or so The Purple Onion 140 Columbus Ave. (at Kearny and Pacific) San Francisco (415) 398-8415 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Apr 1998 01:06:32 -0500 From: Agent Cooper Subject: In Mind Bandulu remix (out mind) MP3 up. The first In Mind remix is now at my "alternate" site. http://www.fringeware.com/anathema/cooper/slowdive.html In a week or two I'll post the other remix. You're welcome. Silver Scooter/Solarium in San Fran!!! 4/10 Turns out there is a third band...called HAT....they go on at 10:15 or so....followed by us, Solarium, at 11:15 or so..... then Silver Scooter at 12:15 or so.....!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Apr 1998 22:51:21 EDT From: Despair603 Subject: Indy fest on Princeton Univ.
