Linköping, Sweden (April 1, 1997) - Martin Blom Technologies and Divine Software are proud to announce the availability of a new retargetable audio standard for all Amigas and Amiga compatibles with an Zorro-II or 16 bit ISA slot, called Voicemorpher Pro.

Drivers for all major sound cards are available today, including Delfina DSP, Soundstage, Sunrize AD516 and AD1012, SoundBlaster Pro, SoundBlaster 16 PnP, SoundBlaster 32, SoundBlaster AWE32, Gravis Ultrasound MAX, Gravis Ultrasound PnP and most of the Turtle Beach cards. Drivers for Toccata and SoundBlaster AWE64 are currently in the final beta stage.

This highly advanced new software takes advantage of an--up to now unused--gate array in the Zorro/ISA bus controller, that allows an extra (slow but still fast enough for audio) DMA channel to be used, making it possible to do pure magic with most sound cards. It allows so-called half duplex cards to play and record at the same time, in full audio quality. It can enhanche the resolution with up to 6 bits using a technique that resembles of the "14 bit" Paula trick. In practice, this makes a SoundBlaster Pro sound as a professional 12 bit sound card, and Delfina DSP as if it had used a 20 bit DAC. Using the OPL FM-synthesizer in the SoundBlaster cards to modulate the DMA audio stream in realtime, up to 14 hardware stereo voices can be simulated without any extra CPU load, thus "morphing" a SB16 to a SB AWE32.

"I have been working on this software for almost a year now, and it is finally ready for the market. It will indeed be a giant leap-frog for any Amiga user", Martin said.

Martin Blom is the programmer of AHI, a retargetable audio standard that was released spring 1996. Using the huge profits he gained from it, he founded Martin Blom Technologies in July 1996, leaving the development of AHI to Divine Software. For all Amigas that cannot use Voicemorpher Pro, AHI version 3 is about to be released in no more than two weeks.
