Bubble Bobble

Taito, 1986

Screen orientation: Horizontal
Pinout: Original (Taito) or 56-pin (bootleg?)
Players: 1 or 2 simultaneously
Buttons: 2 buttons (bubble and jump)

This is a classic game where you control a dragon that can blow bubbles at his enemies. When an enemy is trapped in a bubble, you can kill him by breaking the bubble. There are bubbles that unleash the power of water, fire or lightning when burst, bonuses that give you better bubbling power and other special items. This game is crammed absolutely full with bonuses, power-ups and secrets! There are 100 levels to conquer before you can save your friends. If you are to slow in clearing a screen, the evil Baron von Blubba will come after you! This is the first game in a series of games starring Bub and Bob.

Bust-a-Move (a.k.a. Puzzle Bobble)
Bust-a-Move Again (a.k.a. Puzzle Bobble 2)
Bubble Memories (a "remix" of the original Bubble Bobble)

This is one of my all time favourite games, and I've played it a lot on various formats. For a couple of months I only had the bootleg PCB "Bobble Bobble", which was full of bugs. Now I'm the proud owner of the original, complete with an image of Bub (or is it Bob?) on one of the ROMs! I think this is the best game I have.
