English

English is not my first language (that's Swedish), but it's still a language that I use a lot. I first got in contact with English in third grade when we started to learn sentences like "My name is Hans". By fifth or sixth grade I had moved on to reading novels in English. I think the first ones were by Alistair MacLean. I did learn some English at school, of course, but much of it was self-learnt with a dictionary. One of the people to thank for this is Frank Zappa. I listened to a lot of music at this time, and I wanted to know what it was about, so I started using a dictionary to find out. I can tell you that trying to understand lyrics by Frank Zappa using a dictionary is a bit confusing, especially if you're eleven years old.

Years later, I happened to graduate during a recession and wasn't able to find a job immediately. I took this as an opportunity to enrol in a university course in English at the University of Linköping. You can read my batchelor's thesis if you like.
