Installing SpeakFreely and Zebedee

Download Speak Freely (speakfb.zip) and open it in Winzip. There are five files in the zip archive. Select Extract from the Action menu.

In the Extract window, type c:\speakfreely in the entry Extract to:. Then press the Extract button. If the program asks any questions, answer Yes.

Speak Freely is now installed. Find the c:\speakfreely folder in e.g Explorer, and doubleclick on the speakfre program to run Speak Freely.
You can also drag and drop a shortcut to the desktop if you like.

Installing zebedee

Zebedee is a program that tunnels network traffic through a firewall or masquerading router.
You can download it
here (zbd222setup.exe).
When the program runs, it immediately asks if you want to install Zebedee Secure Tunnel. Answer Yes.

You are asked if you agree to the license. Answer Yes

The installer lets you choose Destination Folder for the program. Enter c:\zebedee in the text box, and then click the Next button.

The installer then lets you choose program group, and suggests Zebedee. That is fine, so click Next.

The Setup is complete. Uncheck the box at Yes, I would like to read... and click Finish

Running Zebedee

When the person at the other computer has started zebedee in client listen mode, we want to start zebedee in server connect mode. The only way to do this is from a command prompt.

To start a command prompt on Windows 95, 98 and Me, do like this:
From the Start menu, select Run...

The Run window appears. Type command in the box and click OK
(If you run windows NT, type cmd instead of command)

We installed zebedee in the folder c:\zebedee, so type cd \zebedee to go to that folder.

When the other person has started zebedee on the computer outside the firewall, start zebedee on this computer by typing:
zebedee -v 2 -u -s -c other.computer.name
Where other.computer.name is the name of the outside computer.
-v 2 means we want it to be verbose
-u is because we tunnel UDP traffic
-s means server
-c means connect to other computer
If all goes well, zebedee says Initiating connection back to client, and then it just sits there, waiting for you to start Speak Freely.
