Book: ===== The Union of the Warriors of Shadow is an original guild, not based on any novels or other gaming themes. They are a school of warriors that were origionally founded to be the elite guard for the royalty of Sybarus City in Avenir, and have since branched out to form their own Union, almost a cult even, based on pride, dignity, grace, and power. To join the Union, the player must first find the guildhall, which is hidden. The guildhall was origionally in Sybarus City, but repeated attempts by Infidel revolutionaries to destroy it forced it to move 'underground', thus making it somewhat difficult to find. Once granted leave, the player must obtain the approval of the Elders. A quest is given to those who are approved for entry. When the quest is solved, and if the player not a goblin or dwarf races which are seen as too clumsy to be a proper member), the player can then join the Union. A player may at any time leave the Union by doing 'betray the union' in the pendentive. Death is the penalty for leaving of your own accord. The Union of the Warriors of Shadow is an organization of noble warriors dedicated to the protection of Sybarus from external threats. The Union is descended from the scions of the noble houses of Sybarus. We celebrate and honour four virtues: Purity, Dignity, Grace, and Pride. We train with those most graceful of weapons: the sword and her swifter, smaller brother, the dagger. We are not mail-clad infantry, but highly trained, swift warriors whose strength lies in our grace and skill, not in the resilience of our armour. Our beliefs are simple: we honour Jazur, our patron deity, and the Gods of the Hours. We expect a certain behaviour consistent with membership in the Shadow Union: a Shadow Warrior will respect the Sybarite gods; he will act according to the four virtues of the Union; he will act in the interests of the Union and not to its detriment; and he will perform his duty as a protector of Sybarus to the best of his ability. There is no Right within the Union except the Will of the Elders; there is no Right within Sybarus except the Will of the nobility. There are those that would call us evil. Our response is that we are above such labels. Our gods do not burden us with "good" and "evil," and we do not recognize the morality of Outlanders. Finally, we are a Union, not a mere collection of individuals. Each Shadow Warrior is fell and dire in his own way, but as individuals we are subject to failure. Through our bonds as members of the Union, however, we become perfect. The Union is not subject to folly, because the impure and the unfit are expelled from our ranks in order to maintain the divine perfection which we cherish and which others envy. It should be noted that there is a set of rules for the visitors both of Sybarus and Our Halls in particular. The notice by Sybarus Guardian to Outlanders is published on Bazaar and Outpost boards, and should be read by those that travel these lands lest they do wrong by ignorance - for ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse. Those that find the Halls should ask any Warrior they meet to have the rules for Halls forwarded to them, and abide by them in order to be welcome there. The only of those rules that needs to be stressed here already is that the location of the Halls is not to be revealed to others in any way. Those interested in joining the Union should first spend some time studying Sybarus and the Union itself. Please note that goblins, dwarves and kenders are not permitted to join.
