Book: ===== The Blademasters is a society of sword-users that has existed, in one form or another, for hundreds of years. Once a formidable army during the Age of Legend, their numbers have dwindled away. Now the title of Blademaster is more of a right to be claimed by those of excessive skill with swords than it is evidence of membership to any organization. In fact, the Blademasters are no longer a true organization as such. There is no one place they call home, there is no one cause they defend. Anyone from the foulest murderer to the holiest warrior may rightfully claim their title, as long as they are among the best with a sword. Rules of Blademasters --------------------- The rules of the Blademasters are simple. There are none. Blademasters these days are frequently quite mercenary in their loyalties, and it is not uncommon for Blademasters to engage one another in battle. Your only protection from another Blademaster is your skill at arms. Aside from that, the only formalities observed is to not provide the blade or clothing of a Blademaster to a non-Blademaster. Doing such is not forbidden, but neither is hunting down and killing another Blademaster for doing it. Breach this trust at your own risk. Joining the Blademasters ------------------------ Welcome to the Blademasters of Khalakhor. You've now fulfilled your right to claim the title of Blademaster, as befits one of your skill at arms. Being a Blademaster means a number of things, most important only to those of us who bear the Chain and the Thistle. The Thistle is a symbol for the Blademasters, though the reason is lost with the passage of time, the symbol is still used. Wherever you see it, a Blademaster has been. There are many allies to the society, tailors and smiths who service our dress and weapons, particularly, will display the thistle on their shops, so that we might recognize it. The Chain is a symbol as old as the thistle, but is remembered. It symbolizes the chain of attack in a fight, where each position, parry, and thrust must be as strong as the others. As the strength of a chain depends on its weakest link, so does the strength of your blade depend on your weakest ability. You can always see a Blademaster by the chain on his or her collar. There is no guildhall for the Blademasters, but past members, those merchants and craftsmen who bear display the thistle, will often allow us to make use of their places of business. In these places, you may elect to start there. As we have no guildhall, and as such no trainers, the guild tax is minor, and put towards only those few abilities you will obtain as a Blademaster. The Blademasters have no regard for alignment or race, for us there is only the sword. As such, anyone of sufficient skill may be a Bladeveteran. Beware your skill does not fall below confident veteran, else your claim to the title is forfeit, and you will no longer be a Blademaster. Help, in more detail, is always at your disposal with 'help blademasters'. Should all else fail, and you lose some or all of your position within the Blademasters, seek out any bearers of the thistle, and rejoin, or ask for a new chain, if that is all you lost. Glory thy blade, Blademaster.
