Scott,

okay, I'll pick it up this weekend. we're going to need to figure out how
to do this international thing. I'll also send you the receipts so you know
I'm not ripping you off. You don't think that you can find another Melting
Pot? I'll need your address, and does the quality of the record cover bother
you? I know it does me. If I remember clearly it wasn't in mint condition.
Mine also isn't, but that's life. But It's a gooder. were you taking the
piss about that wooden box set? Christ what I would give to get a hold of
something like that! I really haven't listened to G.A. lately, but
guaranteed you've heard all the tracks.
Get in touch and we'll work something out
Cheers.

Breaking Into Heaven? What the World Is Waiting For?

Don't get me wron, and this debate need not continue. I love the
Charlies. IMHO, Sproston Green and Occupation H. Monster are their best
songs.

I think that the Roses debate needs to continue as the two bands are always
being compared and I know that Tim has often rejected this idea. Many songs
"beat" the Roses ones you named, listen to Weirdo, Jesus Hairdo, Soulsaver,
Feelin' Holy, Sproston Green-I could go on forever. The fact is that both bands
have got stuff going for them and it's got nothing to do with who beats who. I
personally prefer the Charlatans cos they've got a special groove and are
fantastic live, they are always developing into a better band but have classic
moments on each of their albums.
I do agree that "Your Skies Are Mine" is similar to the Roses but doubt that it
was an intentional plagiarism. So, respect to the Roses but double respect to
the Charlies

Subject: imports & stuff

hello all,
I know this has no bearing on the Charlies, but I picked up a copy of the
'sis (Oasis) live in Paris today. It's called Paris Supernova. Also has
anyone heard of the singles I don't wanna see the sights, Can't get out of
bed, and Spronston Green? I found I don't wanna see..... & Spronston Green
at zia records and me friend SkEight brought me Can't get out of bed back
from Canada. Has Anyone else heard of these? They weren't on the
discography as far as I could see. Does Anyone have any Charlies postcards
they want to get rid of? The only one I have came with their new album The
Charlatans It has a B/W picture of Tim in a bathtub.
Also, the Swe@r have an E.P. out entitled Daydreamer (NOT THE SINGLE!!) with
the tracks 1. Daydreamer 2. I'll Manage Somehow 3. Second Hand 4. Gentleman
Jim 5. Daydreamer-Dub Dreamer Apparently it's a limited edition. I picked it
up in Japan this X-mas. Is this a Japan only release? Does anyone have the
Swe@r's discography?

Cheers!

Here, Charlies "alternative pressings" (is this the P.C. way of writing
bootlegs?) are very hard to come by. Back in Texas (ug) Bill's records had a
lot of Charlies vinyl, I don't recall if any of them were bootlegs. You said
you knew of a couple of places that had imports?

i find it impossible to compare the roses and the charlatans. i think both
bands
are in the zone. that ethereal place where creativity and passion flow like a
waterfall. one things for sure, they are both tops. and second place is light
years away. cheerios. milk.

 Thanks Travis!

It's really good of you to do this. The cover doesn't really bother me,
so long as I have it....
This is Guardian Angels we're talking about, yeah?
Any ideas on how to post Vinyl or how to work out the pounds-dollars thing?
I wasn't taking the piss about the wooden box set - the local record
shop manager saw it at his mate's house. If I get to meet the Charlies at
the next gig, then I may just ask them.
Speak to you soon,

Who cares which are the best band theyre both brilliant live and on record.
I should know as I've folowed both of them since the begining I saw the roses in a shady club in Glasgow called the Rooftops in 1988 for one pound fifty which is rediculously cheap. I've never missed a Charlatans gig in glasgow either and they've played.
here something like 6 or 7 times.
I even saw them at the secret unvailing gig for between 10th and 11th at King Tuts Wah Wah hut which some of you may have heard of.
So lets quit making silly comparisons both bands do theyre own thing and do it well so sit back and enjoy the vibe

I know I recommended Tremolo to someone, but I don't know if it was on
this list or what (and I'll recommend it again). If you're still interested
in MBV, there's a really cool Web page for them with photos, fan-transcribed
lyrics, discography, interviews, etc. I'll have to find the address or
you can do a search for MBV on the Web.

I just got the American version of "Life" by the Cardigans; it's the happiest
thing I've heard in a long time; it's quite silly but also wonderful. I don't
like Pizzicato Five, but I really liked this. Also got "Chorus" by Flying
Saucer Attack -- man, some people should learn how to fucking sing if they're
gonna put out an album. Plus the album is so lo-fi if they used more than
8-tracks recording it, they wasted their time.

The charlies may be one of the only so called maDchester bands left , but respect to the mondays and the inspirals as
they were top bands and as the roses have confirmed they are to .

There are a lot of great bands out there that many haven't heard of. Check
out the Rosemary's too. Matbe we should compile some sort of list of our

I'll compile a list of bands to check out. Sound good? Hey, we're all into

The reason I wrote that is how many of the Roses albums Fuckin made it to
number one? How many of the Charlies albums? Go figure. Now I really wish
everyone would get on with the fact that the Charlies are better. Who gives
a shit who was out first? Elvis was out before the Beatles, The Smiths
before Gene, etc. I really doesn't matter. The Roses WERE a top band, but
not now (In my opinion). Second Coming was like passing a kidney stone the
size of the rock of Gibralter. To everyone I'm sorry about the mindless
rantings in this mail, but I'm fuckin tired of hearin' about this. I also
had a shit day at school, and this is me venting.

cheers.

This debate wouldn't even be happening if you lived in a land where the
chances of seeing any of the great bands previously mentioned are rare,
where their music gets very little airplay and their music will most
certainly never make the charts (Oasis being the exception!) Appreciate
that you have had the chance to see it all happen...while we in this great
southern land (Australia) have missed out on years of the Charlies, and are
trying to make up for lost time by gathering as much useful information on
them as possible...

And just while you're thinking it over, I'd be interested in receiving email
from any other Charlatan fans from any other far away lands...

Hello lisa

A fellow charlatans fan here , I just thought I'd reply to message as it gives
me chance to speak to someone in Austrailia as all the great soaps are made
there ! ( well perhaps not neighbours anyway )
The charlatans are a top band and have been a favorite of mine for sometime
now , the music is class and their image is top .

Hey, just wondering if Tim and Sarah Cracknell are still married, or if
that fell by the wayside.

Where is the long-awaited, ever-anticipated Charlatans/St. etienne
single if indeed, they are still husband and wife? Maybe Sarah was
shaggin' that crazy Ringo Starr looking guy in the band. Can't blame
him.......

Everyone on this list needs their fuckin' heads kicked.
Shut the fuck up about whose better, Verve, Roses, Charlies, etc.
It is a fine thing to express your opinion (once). Discussing differences (in
a mature manner) might even work; if the argument turns lengthy, exchange
addresses with the party or parties with whom you have a grievance and deal
with it outside the forum here.
This childish ranting back and forth over something that is obviously
unresolvable is assinine. Do you people have lives? Or anything intelligent
to offer the list at all? If not, waste someone else's time.
Get over yourselves.
