Yes, I must second Sara's praise for shiFt. They're a 3-piece band from
Austin with only one official release so far: the 7 song EP
'a folding sieve'. The song 'Breathe Salt' is VERY Slowdive-ish, although
their sound is much more than that. They have a 7" coming out soon.
Has anyone heard Half-String's new album yet? Yet another very cool
shoegazey band from Arizona.

a gorgeous song off of the radio about 5 years ago (I think it was called

sure he has some but that's a list he's put together with the help of a

The tentative release "date" is March this year, though Rachel said that
in August last year. So it might as well have changed, as 4AD just released

take everything great about early Verve, and throw in the brilliance
of early and late Slowdive, add a dash of halcion and a little

Bowery Electric's Beat as well. I haven't heard the first Bowery album,

spoke with someone at 4ad today & she said that the Mojave 3 lp & ep are "to
be scheduled" (i.e. no release date). they're still in the studio
apparently, but at this point, there will be an ep released a month or so
before the new lp. looks like there won't be anything out until summer or
fall...

Here it is finally. My round-up of what got my musical attention in 1996.
I do not profess this to be scientific in any way, shape or form. It is
merely a listing of albums that I had bought over the course of the year and
