Phil said that emma wants to eventually do solo stuff. who knows when... phil was into the idea of putting out a disco record- specifically, a "lonely" disco record, since disco music does not reflect sadness too often. Seriously, that's what he said... MIKI: has apparently gone solo. i gather emma and miki are both still signed to 4ad but don't quote me on that. no records have appeared yet tho' Hope it helps Love Jorge ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 13:59:22 -0300 From: Shaun Schmeisser Subject: Re: Thoughts on Blue Day... > the only reason i have *blue day* is because it came with the (used) import > copy of souvlaki i got before christmas of '93 ($15.99...sweet)...i'm glad i > have it, of course, but if i had to buy it separately, i'd sooner go for the 3 > individual ep's... Yeah but as far as collecting ALL of a bands releases, slowdive aren't too hard since they didn't release that much stuff. Not that they aren't hard to get nowadays. I think i had everything there was to get back in 93. Back then Vinyl Ink had a nice copy of Blue Day on vinyl for the longest time. I don't think that Blue Day was actually released in the UK as a UK pressing, as such, I think it was only released in France, Japan, one of the Scandanavian countries (sweeden, perhaps??) and one or two other places but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't released locally in the UK. > getting a > hold of singles became a chore - I remember trying to order their entire > back catalog of singles and after three months only comming up with the > Morningrise EP.... Yeah, I was lucky on this count, myself... I saw the s/t EP and '5' EP on the shelves here in Oz in '94 and picked them up for their retail price. Then I managed to mail order in "Outside your room", "Moriningrise" and the '5' EP Remix CD... they all seemed to be quite readily available back then... in fact, I had 2 copies of '5' Ep at one point that year and then I found another copy of it here for around US$4 in a 2nd hand shop... they're around if you're prepared to be patient. In fact, I think that some of them are still in print, actually. The only EP I wasn't able to order in ("Holding our breath") was (apparently) deleted from Creation catalogues in 1996 but, unless you were in England, was near impossible to get through ordering from record stores even before it's deletion date. I'd had it on order for over 12 months before it had finally been deleted but it didn't turn up... I was told by the guy in the shop that for releases like "Holding our breath", preference is given to record stores in England/Europe and their orders for those titles would be taken care of first... meaning that people like me who want them imported have to play the hit-and-miss game that you have to endure if something you're after isn't released locally. Evidence of this is seen in the fact that you can (apparently) still find Slowdive EP's in baragin bins around London/England if you look carefully... It's enough to drive you insane... Rheas Obsession have been one of the best kept secrets of this country we call Canada - blistering shows, amazing vocals - they seem to transcend this species known as "Goth" and just tend to get on with writing really good music...anyone have their record? Simply amazing....these guys and Sianspheric are two really amazing bands that everyone should check out some time...
