I don't know the contact info, but there is a guy bootlegging it somewhere out there on the web. It always amazes me how badly people want this CD, when if you have the three EPs, you more than have Blue Day. It has average art work, and isn't even all inclusive of the material off the three EPs. I'd say of all the Slowdive CDs I own, this one is the least impressive (well, maybe those in mind singles...). Of course I still bought it for US$20 when it came out years ago, but if it had cost $25 or $30, I think I would have passed. > after searching for about 3 years now, i thought i had finally found it in > the guise of a ltd. edition souvlaki. i put in the order, and find out > that they do not, in fact, have any in stock or even avilable by order. i > wish online ordering places would not lead me on like this. now i am > quite stuck. so if anyone has an extra copy they would want to sell or > knows of a place i could find it, PLEASE, im BEGGING you, let me know. > > hope that didn't sound too desperate ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Apr 1998 00:26:45 -0700 From: Richard Henson Subject: Re: My Blue Day woes. Many mail-order shops offer the EPs and other singles from time to time (parasol leaps to mind). If one is willing to spend the time and the money, it should be possible to get all three EPs, even now. It might take a couple months, and may end up being rather costly, but it is feasible. I have all three EP's and i didn't think that it was TOO easy to come across them all (not at a decent price anyway; yeah, anyone can get them...it just depends on the price; i was lucky enough to get slowdive for eight bucks at my local HMV but i've seen it listed for eighty!). I had a much easier time getting my Blue Day. maybe it just depends on where you live. Plus you also have to take into account that a lot of people don't own turntables anymore (how unfortunate). PS - it took me over two years! maybe i'm just slow. > well, from my experience, it is much easier to find the three EPs than to > find blue day, provided you aren't picky about format (vinyl vs. CD). > just last week somebody posted that they were selling a lot of Slowdive > material, including some of the EPs (on vinyl). I have come across a lot of retailers that list these as available and no other singles. I can understand the In Mind Remixes since that is the most recent ep and maybe there are still a lot floating around, but I can't really rationalize the ubiquitous presence of Morningrise. Anybody got any reasons for this? JC ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 12:36:55 +0100 From: Kevin Wood Subject: opinions on demo... ok kids...here goes again.... I've sent a few of these songs to the list before, but now I've added some new ones to the demo and did a little work on the old ones as well.... the project is called "snowmobile"..... it is encoded in RealAudio....40 kbps...Stereo ISDN....(obviosly sound quality has suffered but I think it still sounds pretty decent) (and it is on my work site...so dont publicize it too much :) Oh...one more thing...try to listen loud with headphones! I spent a lot of time doing some panning effects..... so anyway, tell me what you think! the whole thing is about 42 minutes long and can be accessed from here: http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/snowmobile.ram you can also access it by each song.... 1. Intro to Dusk (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/intro.ram): ---this is basically a little intro of samples/ambient noises/and a beat that comes in..... 2. This Feeling (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/thisfeeling.ram) ---a guitar/overdriven organ based song.... 3. Deeper (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/deeper.ram) ---based purely on samples.... a slower beat with a very deep dub feel...layering sounds as it progresses... 4. Glazed (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/glazed.ram) ---a little beat interval, then a long quiet guitar intro...then the full song with a poppier feel...consisting mainly of guitar, drums, synth, vocals... 5. Phosphorous (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/phosphorous.ram) ---electronic song with drum loops, big sweeping synths, etc....with a more ambient section in the middle.... 6. I'll Smile (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/smile.ram) ---ambient guitarwash with vocals..... 7. Broken Brain (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/broken.ram) ---drone song with 303 sequences and beats...thrown through effects 8. Daydreaming (http://www.news.com/Beta/kwood/snow/daydreaming.ram) ---consists of a frantic beat, droney organs, backwards samples, and vocals a la Neil Halstead... thanks! -kevin Kevin Wood ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 15:36:44 -0400 (EDT) From: aaj292@agora.ulaval.ca (Christian Morin) Subject: monorail About monorail....i was taking about the monorail with some singles available from cdnow: Do better, like i do... I agree. I can personally make a long list of every record ever released and put it up on the web, let people order from the list, and then try to find the ones they ordered. I just don't see the point though - they'll just lose a lot of customers, but everyone's doing it (as far as I know - at least those I have ordered from). "I could probably find it for you, but it'll take a couple of weeks" - yeah, well I can do that myself and save the extra bucks you add to the price, thank you. Actually - I saw something like the "make a long list of every record ever released" example in real life last weekend when visiting a local record fair. One of the "companies" there only had a list of records thick as a couple of BIBLES with them - no actual records, and when I asked how to get the records in it - they gave me a URL and told me to send in my order on their site. So I asked if they really had all of these in stock (it was pretty unbelievable - if they did have all of those, they would be the biggest record mailorder in the country, and I had never heard of them before) - and the guy replied - "err, no. but we work together with a big american mailorder, and we can find them for you through them." No thanks. I say list what you have, and leave it at that. //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 17:25:35 -0500 From: David Poppie Subject: slowdive flexi I have a Slowdive "Beach Song" flexi available for trade. Chances are pretty good that it won't show up, but you never know. I've gotten Spiritualized's "Fucked Up Inside" (and this was mailorder only at the time of release), Slowdive's "Holding Our Breath" and "S/T" ep's, and a few other thing by simply ordering them. Keep in mind, this was in a mall record chain, not some out of the way indie store with good supply lines. I've also seen both Pygmalion and Just For a Day at a Canadian HMV in the last 3 months.
