I ordered it as the double-CD but what I got was the standard one-CD European edition :( So now I want to get rid of my spare copy. And at least in here Finland you cannot buy any other Slowdive products than Pygmalion from _any_ record store. Which is a shame I think. And I believe it's the same in many other countries... Here is one that comes to mind... a band called Planet, I'm Gone from Cincinatti. Beautiful stuff!!! Sort of reminiscent of early Verve, without sounding like a cheap imitation. This band really stands on their own. I haven't heard anything this good in a while. Unfortunately only one of their sound clips is working, but I think it's enough to get you hooked. I'm thinking of getting their EP. Hopefully they are still available. We're Belgian and we play some Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, and early Verve stuff. We're planning to record a demo with members of Hoover, which is a brilliant Belgian band (which is now getting famous in the US), in the near future. I also have a friend Didier Becu who is also very active in this respect. He has a magazine "The Original Sin" but it has appeared only a few times. Perhaps you know him. So if we have recorded the new demo (we have an older one - a bit out-of-date) we'll send you a copy! When you hear something that good you feel you need to let the whole world know about it. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about these guys. They truly are one of the best bands I've heard in a long time along the dreampop/shoegaze lines. -Viet ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Nov 1997 02:48:32 +0100 (MET) From: Erik Soderstrom Subject: Re: dreampoppish bands >> Wow! Shoegaze is painfully _out_, or perhaps _thankfully_ out of sight when it comes to media coverage these days. Though I am somewhat surprised no one on this list has mentioned them before. Well, they only started about a year ago according to their site, so perhaps that's not too strange either. :-) //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Nov 1997 18:18:44 -0800 From: viet le Subject: Re: dreampoppish bands Erik Soderstrom wrote: >>> Wow! Anyhow, I like them, and I'm glad I heard of them. No media coverage needed. :) -Viet ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Nov 1997 00:09:20 PST From: "michaelnicki barrett" Subject: Re: Auction update action... >Hi again everyone-> > > Just a friendly reminder that the auction I'm holding will close >in a mere 55 hours or so, so please catch the action at: > >http://grove.ufl.edu/~eleven/auction.html > >I added some nicey nice items, including a few Slowdive goodies, and >Stereolab, MBV, etc. ULTRA rare stuff!! > >Daniel Hi It's me again I saw your new action stuff and would like some stuff The slowdive ride split my offer Swevredrive ejector seat cd. Subject: Windy and Carl Well, W&C stopped by yesterday afternoon for some hangin' out before the show, and their show was totally amazing, as expected. 5 Amazing blissful songs, culminating with 'Lighthouse', which is probably my fave track by them!! And I didn't even request it....ahhh....However, as they arrived in Florida two days ago, they hit a muffler on the freeway, resulting in a flat tire and a bit of a delay getting to G-ville...THEN, at their soundcheck last night, their van was broken into - right in the club parking lot!! Luckily, only Windy's coat, and a camera were taken, along with some other things. Which totally sucks, because 1) the camera was Windy's Christmas present, and 2) the camera case had all their film from the entire tour in it! So please, if you took any pictures along their tour so far, please send them some copies. And if they come to your town, please give them extra love and support and buy them food and take them into your home and buy extra records of theirs. They are truly wonderful people and they totally got shafted. No wonder no one comes to Florida!! :) Now I'm off to go help them look through the streets surrounding neighboring crack-houses to try to find some of their things... Hi Michael-> > It's me again I saw your new action stuff and would like some stuff > The slowdive ride split my offer Swevredrive ejector seat cd. Well, the bids are up to $12 on that one now, and the Swervedriver CD is actually available in town used for less than that, so I'll have to say pass - sorry! Let me know if you want to make another offer? Or perhaps a $$ bid? > And if you get the cheque I sent send it back I'm sending another ok. Don't think we received it... Thanks!
