From archive (archive) Subject: Author Lists: R A MacAvoy From: JWenn.ESAE@XEROX.COM Date: 4 Mar 89 19:23:50 GMT R. A. MacAvoy burst on the SF scene a few years ago with the utterly charming "Tea With the Black Dragon". She then went on to produce a very good fantasy: The Damiano Trilogy. The nice points of this series are the setting (Renaissance Italy) and the plot. Not to produce any spoilers, but very few authors would try what she did in the end of the second and all through the third book. I don't think it was completely successful, but I enjoy authors *TRYING*, even if they don't always succeed. Her next few books just didn't work for me, although they were all well written, and there are many who like them. Her latest, "The Third Eagle" is Science Fiction (all her previous works have been Fantasy of some flavor) looks interesting, and I'm looking forward to reading it when it comes out in paperback (I buy far too many books to afford hardcovers). [O] == Omnibus. Includes other books. /John arpa: JWenn.ESAE@Xerox.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- MacAvoy, R[oberta] A.
