D. F. Jones is most famous for the novel "Colossus".  It was later filmed
as "Colossus: The Forbin Project".  The film is a credible adaption of the
book.  Both versions tell the story of a super-computer that goes from
control of Western nuclear defenses to taking control of the world.  It's a
logically presented with an opressive atmosphere of things happening beyond
human control.  It's recommended, although my all time favorite story in
the "computers taking over" genre is still Jack Williamson's "With Folded
Hands" story & "The Humanoids" novel.
