From archive (archive) Subject: Author Lists: John Brunner From: JWenn.ESAE@XEROX.COM Date: 9 Dec 88 13:26:40 GMT The problem with a John Brunner book list is that he suffers from the "across-the-pond" syndrome. With moderately popular British author, you get British only editions, American editions titled the same as British editions with different contents, and American editions identical to British editions but with a different title. John Brunner had several of his novels abridged when published in the US in the early 60's (typically as 1/2 of an Ace Double). The complete text (with revisions) was generally published in the late-60's. John Brunner tends to write two kinds of novels: a standard SF novel of above average quality, and impressive mega-novels. Mega-novels include: Stand on Zanzibar, The Shockwave Rider, The Sheep Look Up & The Jagged Orbit. I also recommend The Traveller in Black.
