Poul Anderson and Andre Norton, among others, have all written more books. In this list there are ~71 different titles. But since there are lots of omnibuses, and dupilcations, one could get all the material by buying only ~37 different books (or nearly 1/2 of the titles are redundant!). Asimov has written massive amounts of non-fiction (e.g. "Isaac Asimov's Guide to the Bible"), lots of non-SF fiction (e.g. "Murder at the ABA") and has edited huge numbers of anthologies (both alone ["THe Hugo Winners"] and with others [mostly Martin Greenberg & Charles Waugh]). But I'm only including Asimov's SF fiction. Keep those cards and letters coming in. Other authors requested have been Zelazny, Sturgeon & Silverberg. [C] == Short Story Collection. Jenkins) Subject: List of Asimov's books Message-ID: Followup-To: alt.books.isaac-asimov Sender: usenet@taligent.com (More Bytes Than You Can Read) Organization: Taligent, Inc. Date: Fri, 14 May 1993 22:20:25 GMT Lines: 549 I've had enough requests that I e-mail my list of Asimov's books that I think it's worthwhile to post it here. Book numbers for books #1 through #300 are from the three _Opus_ books. Book numbers for books #301 through #365 are courtesy Ed Seiler, who got them from Asimov. All the other books are books which are (or have been) listed in _Books in Print_ and are (strangely) numbered 999 for convenience. The list is in the form of three tab-separated fields. The first field is the number (where I know it), the second is the title, and the third is the year of publication. Be warned that somebody along the line may have done word-wrapping on long titles, so don't casually assume there is one title per line. You may have to do some hand editing before you can use this. I do not supply as much information as Asimov did himself. In particular, I do not have publisher data or break the books down into categories. Not yet, anyway. :-) The data in this list should be considered provisional. Errors or omissions which are brought to my attention will be corrected. Please note that _Books in Print_ is not a reliable source of information for Asimov's books, since publishers might list him as the "author" of a book when he himself would not (for example, if he did nothing more than write an introduction, or if it is a collection of stories from his magazine). Some books listed in _Books in Print_ are merely new titles attached to old books (e.g., _The history of physics_, _Triangle_), which Asimov did not count. Also, books published outside of the United States, by certain small presses, or with a limited circulation, are not listed in _Books in Print_. I assume that an official list of all Asimov's books will be published in _I, Asimov_, whenver *that* shows up. John H. I am interested to have a list of all short stories written and than publicated. I encose my personal list (there will be some errors, of course), this list does not include the stories that had never been printed like: Cosmic Corkscrew (1938), This Irrational Planet (1938), The Weapon (1938), Paths of Destiny (1938), Knossos in its Glory (1938), The Decline and Fall (1939), Life Before Birth (1939), The Brothers (1939), The Oak (1940), Masks (1941), Big Game (1941). I take these information from books like "The Early Asimov" and so on .. I thank in advance everybody who will contribute to complete this list. Paolo Ghedini Note: I have marked with a star (*19xx) the stories that I haven't checked.
