Arthur Joachim von Oettingen, German music theoretician, physicist, and biographer, born 1836 in Dorpat (Tartu) in Livonia (now Estonia), died 1920 in Leipzig.
Together with B. W. Feddersen, A. J. von Öttingen continued to edit and publish the 3rd volume, 1898, and 4th volume, 1904, of J. C. Poggendorff, Biographisch-literarisches Handwörterbuch zur Geschichte der exacten Wissenschaften.
