Some screenshots of Purp:
Main-window:
Explanation:
This screenshot shows Purp running in a rxvt-term-window under the X-windows
system (with the FVWM2 windowmanager). Purp uses colors when it's available,
but works just as fine on a monochrome terminal. This screenshot isn't at all final,
since Purp is under development.
Upper left panel (Installed packages)
In the upper-left panel you see the packages that you have installed on your system.
You can see that the group-hierarchy are navigated like an ordinary directory-hierarchy.
All lines ending with a slash "/" are groups in the hierarchy, the other lines are
packages. The packages are indented one character for readability and to make place
for the selection-mark '*'.
Upper right panel (Available packages)
In the upper-right panel you see the packages that are available for installation or upgrade.
Only packages not already installed are shown here. On the screenshot above, the user has
selected three packages, which is marked by a star ('*') and with green color on
color-tty's. In the botton of the panel you find numbers telling the number of selected
packages and the total size of those. The white bar standing over the package
'asm_c84-1.2-1' is the cursor. To change between the panels you simply use the
tab-key.
Path-line
The line below the two panels shows the path for the currently selected package. On the
screenshot you can see that the selected package are located in /X11/Applications/Graphics.
The info-panel
In this panel you find information about the currently selected package. As you can see
in the upper-right panel we have selected 'asm_c84-1.2-1', whoose information are shown
in the info-panel. At the botton of the info-panel you can see the summary-info for
the package, which is a short line describing the package. For a longer description you
can press "D" (Description).
The command-line
This is a single line showing the currently available commands. The key-strokes for the
commands are shown in a highlighted style.
Installation:
Explanation:
This screenshot shows Purp during installation of some packages. The progress-window
shows a progress-bar for the package that are being installed and a progress-bar for
the total operation.
Info-window:
Explanation:
This screenshot shows Purp showing the long description for a selected
package. As you can see in the title-row it's for the package
man-pages-1.15-1. The long description doesn't fit in the main-window, but
is available like this by only a keyclick from the main-window.
Uninstall-window:
Explanation:
This screenshot shows the uninstallation-confirmation. As you can see if you
compare the menubar from the main-window and this window, it changes to the
currently available possibilities, at this screen only 'Yes' and 'No'. The
same type of window is used to confirm installation and upgrade of packages.
The user will of course be able to turn off this security.
