Illustrated Pinball Techniques

Thanks to Erik Wesselak for the computer generated animations (1-5.) Thanks to whoever created it for the real-life bangback video. * :: \\ - The Live Trap
aka Flip Trap :: video/livetrap.mpg :: The live trap or flip trap is a technique that can be used to stop a ball shooting towards the flipper. By flipping at the right moment the ball can be made to simply stop dead in its tracks on the flipper. \\ - Dead Trap
Drop Catch
Drop Stop :: video/deadtrap.mpg :: The drop stop is another technique that can be used to stop a ball coming at the flippers. By dropping a raised flipper just when the ball reaches it, the ball slows down and rolls slowly up the inlane. \\ - Trap Pass
Hold Pass :: video/passing.mpg :: The hold pass is useful for passing the ball from one flipper to the other when the ball is headed down the inlane at a moderate speed. It is the simplest of the passing techniques. \\ - Bangback :: video/bangback.mpg :: A successful bangback slams the ball back in to play after it has already rolled down an outlane. It is a desperate mode, but pretty useful when it works. \\ - Death Save :: video/deathsave.mpg :: Another desperate move that allows the player to save a ball that has drained down the right outline of certain machines. The death save depends on a certain construction of the drain. \\ - Live Bangback :: video/video_bangback.mpg :: This is a video of an actual bangback being performed on a Twilight Zone machine. I clearly shows how an actual bangback is performed. \\ * ::
