Somehow I doubt that was their motive. That logic would require that it became known that SA agents killed Palme...

The international uproar would be pretty impressive, to say the least.

Actually, I'm not that surprised about the indications (whatever) that SA agents killed Palme. As early as 1990, the Swedish paper Arbetaren had an article which pointed out that it was "information" from SA intelligence which led to the so-called PKK lead.

This was connected with a quote from Ebbe Carlsson (now dead, he was heavily involved in the early investigation, and especially the PKK lead) that the truth behind the murder of Olof Palme was behind the PKK lead.

It was (and is) mighty weak, but it does fit with the new indices.
