Nishida" Subject: Greetings to MB-trans... To: MB-trans ML Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII OK, I guess it's time to get started here. Welcome, all, to the MB-trans ML. Presumably all of you here are familiar with translation mailing lists, and maybe even the format of the KOR-trans ML in particular. If so, then you can skip this post. I don't really know how this list will end up being run, but for starters I'll do it the same as KOR-trans. Namely, I'll post the draft script and then everyone chimes in with their critiques/edits. I then collect the edits at periodic intervals (in the best case, this means once or twice a day) and work them into new lines, posting those new lines to the ML. Those suggestions are also critiqued, and edited, ad infinitum, until there are no more discussions. Then the script is considered completed and ready for archiving. When critiquing, remember that I don't take them personally. It's just words in sentences. Don't hold back. Likewise, critiques of YOUR critiques aren't personal. All that matters is churning out that polished script! But that's enough chatter... In which Miki gets a shock... Well, here it is! The first draft script to the MB-trans mailing list! Marmalade Boy chapters come in 40-page chunks or so. Rather larger than I'm accustomed to on KOR-trans. I'll still post a chapter at a time, but I won't post so many chapters at once! I'll also post them in chunks, so you can critique them in smaller, bite-sized pieces. Please critique to the fullest! And send your comments to the list. Craig I think I can skip the format key, huh? That kanji is in ALLCAPS, hiragana in lower-case, and katakana in ________ overbars The format is identical to the one I used in KOR-trans, which in turn was modified from the one adopted by MI-trans. The first draft script to the MB-trans mailing list! Marmalade Boy chapters come in 40-page chunks or so. Rather larger than I'm accustomed to on KOR-trans. I'll still post a chapter at a time, but I won't post so many chapters at once! Thanks--coming from the more sedate MI trans list which does things a page at a time, the higher pace here will be a challenge (for some reason I'm playing the Rayearth Battle Suite as I start this reply :-) A few more notes: ? marks a possible suggestion, ??? marks a suggestion I'm not at all sure about. I normally edit out panels I don't comment on, and sometimes the beginning of a panel is replaced by a [...] (endings may be silently dropped). Tell me if you'd like more context....
