BAKED APPLES

A quick substitute for apple pie

Ingredients

(Serves 4)

Procedure

  1. Preheat oven to 200C Butter a deep baking dish that has a lid.
  2. Core the apples but do not peel them. Arrange them in the dish. Cut apples to fit, if necessary.
  3. Combine all remaining ingredients in bowl. Mix well (this is where grating the butter comes in handy). Stuff this mixture into the holes and spaces in and between the apples.
  4. Bake covered at 200C for about 30 minutes. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream (spoon extra sauce over ice cream).

Difficulty: easy.
Time: 10 minutes preparation, 30 minutes cooking.
Precision: measure the spices.
