Rather than having several disks full of files with redundant information, I hope to have one excessively large hypertext index linking relevant data together. This file is comprised of information taken from the Anime Pocket Guide (see the @{"Bibliography" link "Biblio"}), plus some Usenet posts, linked together where possible. I expect to be adding more as time goes by. I expect other people will find this Index useful even in its incomplete form (will it ever be finished? I doubt it), so I'm making it available to anyone who wants it. Distribute away. There are two versions of this file in existence: one is in AmigaGuide; the other is on the Internet as a World Wide Web page, at http://www.lysator.liu.se/anime/anime.guide.main.html. There will be a DOS or Windows version of this available whenever I find the time. Maybe a Mac one too, if possible. The stories have the AD Police dealing with more mundane crimes and more thought provoking conflicts. A common character with "@{"Bubble Gum Crisis" link "BGC"}" is a young Leon McNichol. File 1: Leon is fighting against a prostitute Booma. Severely injured, he defeats it. The Booma returns to his life when its parts are reused and she (it?) begins killing her clients. File 2: This is a "what makes us human" story when a series of "Jack the Ripper" style slayings take place. File 3: A story dealing with our own humanity as a police officer is turned into a 'Robocop' type of Booma...replacing everything except his brain and tongue. Through the tense situation, ESWAT prepares to neutralize the terrorists. Finally, ESWAT strikes and kill or capture all but one of the terrorists. Along the way, we're introduced to two ESWAT members: Deunan Nut and Briareos Hecatonchires. They are 2 outsiders who joined ESWAT for lack of anywhere else to go. The OAV tells a story of a terrorist plot to take over Gaia...the central computer running Olympus. The plot involves a disillusioned ESWAT officer and the terrorist who got away and Hitomi, Deunan's bioroid friend who is used as a pawn to gain access to Gaia. NOTE: The OAV is based on the manga "Appleseed" by Masamune Shirow. The manga is full of rich character development and background. Unfortunately, none of this was shown in the OAV. His training is driven by revenge: Arion was told that his mother's blindness was caused by Zeus and Zeus' death will remove the curse. Finally, Arion and Geedo (a huge ape-like creature who had become Arion's friend and companion) left the Underworld to find Zeus. Seneca, a small thief, makes off with Arion's sword and this leads Arion to his first encounter with the forces of Zeus, commanded by his daughter Athena. Arion is captured but is later set free by Lesfeena, Athena's mute serving girl. As Arion rejoins Geedo and Seneca (and worries about Lesfeena), the forces of Zeus and Poseidon face each other in battle. In the background sits the scheming Hades, and the calm Apollon who seems to have plans of his own. The setting of this movie was based on Greek Mythology and the story is of epic stature. The series has ranged from soap opera (the Ami series) to fantasy (Rall series) to horror (Cream Lemon Dark) to outright parody (Pop Chaser). The various episodes have nothing in common with each other (aside from episodes in a mini-series) except the requirement to have at least one sex act. In terms of plot, that ranges from the very bad to mediocre. In most cases, the sex is totally unnecessary to the plot (such as it is) but you couldn't call it a "Cream Lemon" if you took it out... NOTE: "@{"Project A-ko" link "A-ko"}" started as a "Cream Lemon", but the comedy overwhelmed the sex. The only artifact of "A-ko"'s origins is the B-ko pool scene... This plane only transforms from plane to humanoid. It is black, white and red in colour. He has a standard high-caliber projectile weapon and missiles. Land Cougar - This is the second product from the Dancougar network assigned to Sara. It looks like a huge black tank with one large white cannon on the top. Anime Pocket Guide Rating: RECOMMENDED @endnode @node Kabuto "Raven Tengu Kabuto" Raven Tengu Kabuto (OAV) From: Ralph Jenkins (m0336@tnc.UUCP) Just picked up a copy of Dark Image Entertainment/L.A. Hero's subtitled version of the latest Buichi Teresawa manga to go OAV, Raven Tengu Kabuto. For those who aren't familiar with Terasawa, some of his other works are Space Cobra and Midnight Eye: Gokuu. I believe Kabuto is the first anime adaptation of his work that he was involved in personally. The tape is in the same format as U.S. Renditions' older releases: that is, it's subtitled and comes in a clamshell case. DIE, like USR, is a division of Books Nippan; however, DIE specializes in more 'mature' anime, or titles that are not suitable for children. Kabuto is the first release under this label. Kabuto attempts to combine two radically different genres: Japanese mythology and cyberpunk (whoa!). The story is very simple. Kabuto, a mysterious samurai, arrives in a new village, and must immediately rescue a captured princess from the castle of an evil sorceress. Okay...standard samurai movie fare. *Then* we get an intelligent robot assassin, a mechanical horse, a *flying* house, and replicants out of Blade Runner. Once the heavy metal music starts, you *know* you're in for one confused OAV! But does it work? In my opinion, it doesn't. The story is all formula, regardless of the futuristic elements tossed in. It's not clear *why* we have two different time periods existing at once, unless one bad guy in particular is *that* smart. Still, I don't buy it. Kabuto is a difficult anime to swallow. Another gripe: The character designs are not distinctive enough; a lot of the characters tend to look too similar. Also, the running time given on the package is 45 mins., which is misleading because there are ten minutes of credits at the end (including a why-is-this-here sequence showing highlights from the video). The anime is 35 mins. long, tops. The verdict: If you can overlook the cliched plot and suspend all disbelief, the animation is of good quality in general, and very good in some sequences. To wrap this up, although this is the first release under the DIE label, there isn't much in way of mature content, really. There's a little blood, and a couple of nude scenes. This is not something to show during family hour, to be sure, but it's relatively tame as far as anime horror goes. @endnode @node KaruraMau "Karura Mau" Karura Mau (FILM, OAVs) Genre: Horror Cast: Shoko Ougi (Shii-chan) ..................... The band consists of: an elf, a dwarf, a cleric, a wizard, a thief, and a warrior (Pern). The OAV series follows their adventures. This series has a very heavy Role-Playing-Game(RPG) influence to it. Note that there seems to be a break in the story between parts 8 and 9. From: Mitsuhiro Sakai (sakai@dylink.usc.edu) There are 4 (or 5, now?) novels of "Record of Lodoss War" by Ryo Mizuno. The OVAs are based on the first volume of the novels. "Record of Lodoss War" was born as a table talk role playing game created by Group SNE(Ryo Mizuno is one of them.). Then, it turned into the novels by Ryo Mizuno, published by Kadokawa-Shoten. From: dansu@ocf.berkeley.edu (Dan Su) An introduction to Record of Lodoss War Translated from the July 1990 issue of NewType by Dan Su Anime Berkeley "30 years of peace has come to an end. Once again, war clouds hang over Lodoss..." The peace of Lodoss island was obtained through the noble sacrifice of the heroes who challenged the demons of darkness. But now, 30 years later, with renewed evil ambition, the Marmoian emperor Beld has begun his attack. Here, a new record of war unfolds... * * * The Evil Figure Hiding in Lodoss' History "Record of Lodoss War" is not simply a record of a war. It takes place in a war-torn world, with heroes who earnestly believe in justice and who rely on their own inner strength. It is also an epic describing the growth of these characters. The story starts out with a goblin invasion of the hero Pern's home village of Zaxon where most of the villagers are massacred. To the people of Lodoss who haven't seen war since the last battle with demons 30 years ago, this was a totally unthinkable event. Pern, who's father served as a holy knight in Vallis, wonders about the unusual disaster, "Now, something is about to happen to this island." Pern and his friends, Eto, a Fallis Shinto priest (i.e. cleric) who is also Pern's childhood friend, Slain, a magician known within the village of Zaxon, and Gim, a dwarf warrior, set out to find the cause of the unusual events. The truth is, at that time, evil ambition covered the island of Lodoss. Beld, the emperor of Marmo, the island of darkness, set out to conquer Lodoss. It was really a bolt from the blue. Kanon's stronghold, Shining Hill, as well as Alan, the capital of the "Millenium" kingdom Alania, easily fell to the Marmoian forces. Beld gloats over the success of his battle plan. However, he was formerly one of the seven heroes who fought the demon-gods to the end. Why would one of those heroes (do something like this)...? What in the world could have made him give up his hero's name/title? [I think this has the connotation: what could have turned him from good to evil?] That is a puzzle noone can figure out. Also, wherever the Marmoian army goes, the enemy's resistance is utterly destroyed by the grey witch Karra's mighty magic. Undoubtedly, she holds the key to part of this mystery. On their way to the fortress Mice, Pern and company (which now includes Deedlit the elf and Woodchuck the thief) run into Karra when they happen to rescue Vallis' queen, Fianna, whom Karra is trying to kidnap. As the story goes on, the battle between Karra and Pern's group and the battle between the Marmoian army and the Vallis army that's trying to stop them continue. In the process, Pern and his friends will really grow/mature. Also, an unexpected truth in Lodoss' history will be revealed. [Sorry for not breaking up all the relative clauses into separate sentences. I hope the english doesn't sound too awkward. Also, I'm sure I spelled some of the names wrong since I don't know the official spellings. -DS 4/4/91] From: Chadwick Ngan (chadwick@world.std.com) The first 8 episodes of the OVA followed rather closely to the events happening in the first novel. There are, of course, some editorial changes during transition to the silver screen. The next 2 OVA episodes follows volume 3-4 of the novels somewhat loosely. The basic plots is more or less the same, but there are many changes as well, since the OVA involves only one cast, Parn and co. The novel, on the other hand, spend considerate pages on new characters other than Sheris and Orson. By episode 11-13, the OVA differed from volume 6-7 of the novels so much that only the concept remains the same. Basically they took the idea from the RPG replay and made it evolve around the OVA cast. The novels, by this time, concentrates on a different group of people, with Parn and others playing a supportive role. One thing of interest is that the last volume [7] of the novel were not in print when the OVA series was concluded. In a sense the OVA is ahead of the events depicted by the novel, even though they both stem from the same RPG replay. Finally, the OVA crammed everything into a time span of no more than 2 years, whereas the same story is told over a period of 13+ years in the novels. Parn actually mature into somebody respectable there. This difference in time also presented a difficulty to the character designers, when they wondered how they are going to make a "Knight of Lodoss" image out of a 20 years-old fool. :) Anime Pocket Guide Rating: RECOMMENDED - especially if you're into RPGs. @endnode @node Varuga "Demon Warrior Luna Varuga" Demon Warrior Luna Varuga (OAVs) Genre: Fantasy alternate title: Majuu Senshi Luna Varuga Cast: Princess Luna ........................... (TV) alternate title: Kingyou Chuuihou! The series is called Kingyou Chuuihou! which translates as Goldfish Warning! [as in Hurricane Warning :-)] The author is Nekobe Neko. Up to recently Goldfish Warning! was in Nakayoshi, a monthly shoujo manga magazine. Seven compilations of the manga are available [consult the rec.arts.manga Manga Guide for details]. For the TV version each episode contains two segments, sometimes they are two separate stories, sometimes they are two parts of the same story. All the stories are self contained and there is little or no sequential order to them. The drawing style of the characters varies between normal, part-gag and full-gag depending on the situation [gag is sort of like SD but not necessarily super-cute]. Normal style tends to be used in "serious" situations like when Chitose acts upperclass for example she is admiring herself in the mirror. Part-gag is "normal" mode for most characters and full-gag is used in "gag" situations like when Chitose discovers that her hair is really a disaster... The set-up of the story is this: Fujinomiya Chitose's wealthy father dies with debts that leave her almost broke. She is kicked out of the snobbish Tokai no Gakuen [City Academy] and she is left with nothing in the world except for the clothes on her back and one pink goldfish called Gyopi-chan, the only thing left by her father. While wandering lost she collapses on the grounds the poor-but-happy Inaka no Chuugakkou [Country Jr. High School], where the students are rough [ie un-cultured] but friendly, and animals regularly roam the school grounds and even attend class. When she recovers she enters the school even though she is unhappy with its air of poverty. Her family lawyer, Tanakayama, comes in presumably to see to her welfare, but actually plots to steal her rare pink goldfish, which is extremely valuable. Caught in the act by the school's guard chicken Piiko and stopped by a student named Wapiko, he drops a safety deposit box key belonging to Chitose's late father. The deposit box turns out to contain enough deeds, stocks and other goodies to make Chitose set for life, but instead of returning to the rich school that rejected her, she uses some of the money to rebuild the poor school into the New Country Jr. High School. In exchange for such generosity, she appoints herself the school's chairperson of the board and student president. She then spends most of her time trying to bring a little big-city sophistication to the school and its student body and trying to get them to seriously compete (for her revenge, of course) against the City Academy. Naturally, she fails miserably. Future episodes usually centre around this theme or around Chitose's attitude keeping her from just enjoying herself the way the "low-class" country students do. Other odd elements include the pigs, cows (human size!), chickens, cats, and so on that can often be found in the classroom with the students. The cows in particular play a fair part in the show, and two or three of them have become recognisable characters. Wapiko: The show's super-energetic, carefree heroine. Besides being incredibly fast, strong, and agile, she also has a great tracking nose and is very good with animals as well. The animals all look up to her, and she often serves as intermediary between them and Chitose. She can be upset or angry, but it usually doesn't last long. Her primary purpose in life seems to be just to enjoy it. Gyopi-chan: Currently valued in the hundreds of millions of yen. It is eventually revealed that not only is the goldfish worth a mint, he can also fly and talk, and is especially fond of potato chips. Chitose: Even after losing it all and still being accepted by the poor school you'd think she'd have learnt something, but she hasn't! She still considers herself a lady of refinement and above all the country riff-raff, even though she can and often does act wilder and cruder than any of them. She does seem to occasionally notice that these people are good characters, but rarely seems to pick up any of their better traits. Despite her good intentions for the school, a big part of her remains a self-serving, snobbish schemer. Shuu: Short for Kitada Shuuichi. The straight man of the series, he is the only person at New Country Jr. High who even comes close to a "student" as Chitose knows them. She appoints him student vice-president, and he is always referring to her as "Miss Student President", never by name. He is more the stereotyped girls' manga-type boy: serious, intelligent, gentle, slim, and handsome. He rarely if ever loses his temper, instead spending a lot of his time dealing with Chitose's. However, despite his serious character and position relative to her, he is above all a New Country student, and remains loyal to his friends there in spite of what Chitose thinks of them. Aoi: The school delinquent, [well actually the school "human" delinquent as there is delinquent bull :-)] he is forever late to class or forgetting at least half his required class materials. He is, however, quite handsome, and is not above exploiting this. If he didn't make a fool of himself so often, he'd make a pretty good romantic lead. Michael: Head of the school's Drama Club and he always carry a guitar with him. He has a cat which always punch him, and it turns out that he is the elder brother of the Prince from the Chocolate Empire! As for his "charm point" as he calls it... ...and you thought the girls' eyes were big!!! Sugadaira Yurika: Student President at the City Academy and Chitose's rival. She is forever trying to find ways to do in or absorb New Country, and would succeed more if she wasn't so infatuated with Aoi. It might also help if she got rid of Tanakayama. Tanakayama: After the first episode he goes to work for Yurika, and spends most of his time either spying on New Country on her orders or eating at the City Academy's expense. Takapi: Chairman of City Academy's central committee (a position he takes seriously) and Tanakayama's designated assistant spy. He's a good student, if a little snobby, but his spying work is hampered by a crush he has on Wapiko. Credits: Most of the text was taken from a Mangazine article that Widya Santoso sent me. The eyecatch has pictures of 2 twins (all appear about 1-3 years old) when going to commercial. When coming out, a picture of "Dio", the 2 ED singers posing as Tomomi and Mikage is used. Minky Momo is actually a princess from the "Land of Dreams" and she is on Earth to help humans not to lose their dreams. There are actually 2 Minky Momo TV series: Minky Momo (1982-83) - Momo-chan and her parents run a pet shop. Momo comes from Fenarinarsa which moved to near- Earth space when humans lost their dreams. Momo uses her magic to change into various 18 year old girls with expert skills in some area. At the end of the series, Momo was run over by a truck and her spirit was reborn as a human. Minky Momo (1991-92) - Another Momo-chan lives with her human parents who run a hotel. Premise is the same as the first series, except that this Momo has more general use of her magic - being able to cast spells as well as transform. Minky Momo comes from Marinenarsa which sits at the bottom of the sea. Note that the first Minky Momo (now human) has also appeared in this series. In both series, Momo-chan lives with human parents, but her real parents live in their respective cities and Minky Momo is a real princess. Both "Land of Dreams" retreated to their current locations because humans have lost sight of their dreams. US Release by: AnimEigo (subtitled) UK Release by: Anime Projects Limited (subtitled) Anime Pocket Guide Rating: RECOMMENDED @endnode @node RobotCarnival "Robot Carnival" Robot Carnival (FILM) Genre: Science Fiction, Anthology Review from Animato!, Spring 1991, by Emru Townsend The notion of syncing a pantomime animated film to music is hardly new; Disney's Steamboat Willie and Silly Symphonies are classic examples, and even "silent" films usually had a pianist performing to accompany what was being seen onscreen. However, Since the days of the Silly Symphony -- and the ultimate Silly Symphony, Fantasia -- there has been a profound lack of this genre of animated film, with the possible exception of music videos. Enter Robot Carnival, a mid-80s Japanese techno-Fantasia with a twist. As in Fantasia, Robot Carnival is comprised of several animated shorts set to music. Unlike Fantasia, Robot Carnival has each segment directed by different teams, each with their own distinct style, while all the music is composed by Jo Hisaishi, who has also composed soundtracks for anime classics such as @{"Nausicaa" link "Nausicaa"}, @{"Laputa" link "Laputa"}, and @{"Arion" link "Arion"}. Where Fantasia's unifying theme is fantasy, Robot Carnival's unifying theme is, as the title suggest, robots. In some ways, Robot Carnival's structure is much like that of Fantasia. It gambols through some light-hearted sequences, takes time out for a relatively somber short, has a trio of shorts (one light-hearted, one "art", and one uproariously funny), and a final, dark sequence. The film's opening has a little boy in the desert going about daily life until a poster ad blows his way. He picks it up, squints at the type, and runs off in a panic to warn the villagers: the Robot Carnival is coming! People frantically run for cover and cower in their hovels as the Carnival makes its destructive presence known. This segment was directed by Katsuhiro Otomo (creator and director of @{"Akira" link "Akira"}) and Atsuko Fukushima, and is enjoyable for its large dollops of slapstick cartoon violence as the Robot Carnival's fireworks detonate within the village and its cute dancing dolls explode in the company of their human consorts. Franken no Haguruma (Frankenstein's Gears), directed by Kouji Morimoto, has us in a darkened laboratory illuminated only by the occasional flash of lightening. A (mad?) scientist with an unidentifiable something on his back creates a robot which can mimic anything he does... much to his dismay. Further comment would only give away the joke. Deprive, directed by Hidetoshi Omori (who has worked on @{"Aura Battler Dunbine" link "Dunbine"}, and more recently the new Guyver OAVs), is a fast-paced action film. An invading overlord and his minions kidnap a young girl and her robot friend sets off to rescue her from their clutches. Aside from the catchy music, a few neat visual effects during his retribution and a particularly nasty surprise, there's nothing too exceptional about this segment. Two of the shorts within this movie violate the music-only rule, of which the first is Presence. Directed by Yasuomi Umetsu (who was behind the opening of @{"Project A-ko 3" link "A-ko"}), the film's subdued background music is mainly accompanied by the voice of the main character, a man who creates robotic toys for a living. The world he inhabits is much like ours, only robotics are more commonplace. In his private work area, he creates a robotic female companion, who startles him by exhibiting some all-too-human behavior. This touching film is hauntingly beautiful, with lush background designs and ultra-detailed, colorful cel work. The animation itself is smooth -- almost too smooth. While it suits certain things such as flying cars and slow-motion shattering glass, the smooth movement sometimes makes the characters themselves seem inhuman. Starlight Angel is a short about two girls' visit to the fair. This is a light, entertaining "feel-good" sort of film, which is fairly average. The story meanders a bit in some places, leaving the audience occasionally muttering, "Yes, yes, get on with it!" Hiroyuki Kitazume directed Starlight Angel, which is highly reminiscent of his work for Zeta Gundam. Meiji Karakuri Bumei Kitan: Koumoujin Shurai no Maki (Strange Tale of Meiji Machines: The Episode of the Red-Haired Man's Invasion) is the second Robot Carnival short to have any dialogue. Strangely, the music seems to only be a minor aspect of this film, which is about a western man invading 16th century Japan with his giant, lumbering wooden robot. Some Japanese youngsters attempt to retaliate with a wooden robot of their own, with some hilarious consequences like accidentally punting a small house into the stratosphere when they mean to raise the right leg to start walking. Hiroyuki Kitakubo, chief animator of @{"Black Magic M-66" link "M66"}, directed this bit of silliness. Cloud sticks out from the rest of Robot Carnival as Toccata and Fugue in D Minor did in Fantasia; it's not cel animation. Unlike Toccata and Fugue, it doesn't even have all that much animation at all. Cloud has a quiet, contemplative soundtrack and features a small, robotic child wearing a jacket. Little actually happens in this as far as plot goes; most of the film is comprised of still drawings serving as a backdrop for the young robot's journey. Mao Lamdo directed this, probably the closest to an "art" film Robot Carnival has to offer. Niwatori Otoko to Akia Kubi (Chicken Man and Red Neck) owes quite a bit to Fantasia's Night on Bald Mountain. An ordinary city is overrun by demonic robots at night, and one man is trapped in it all. Chicken Man and Red Neck has a few slapstick moments, but is still generally a dark film. What it lacks in the sheer power and dark majesty of both the music and animation in Night on Bald Mountain it makes up with a frenetic pace and the terror of poor Chicken Man. This was directed by Takashi Nakamura, who later became chief animator of @{"Akira" link "Akira"}. The closing segment was directed by Katsuhiro Otomo and Atsuko Fukushima. The Robot Carnival is over, and the mobile sign/parade vehicle is in ruin. The ending is a funny and almost sadistic surprise; see the movie and judge it for yourself. @endnode @node Robotech "Robotech" Robotech (TV) Genre: Science Fiction Cast: Cast listed in "Robotech: Art 1" -- not listed here Anime Pocket Guide Description: Not exactly anime, but this seems to be most people's intro to anime. Description (Neil Nadelman): Story concerns an alien with a God complex invading an isolated research satellite and causing people to re-live their worst nightmares... Which for some reason seems to cause them to explode and get sucked out of airlocks. Weirdest thing about it? Seems to contain references to the Soviet SF film "Solaris". Animation quality is decent to mediocre. Music is unremarkable. Story's okay if you're into this sort of thing. My biggest problem with it is the ending: Like MD Geist, it seemed to be setting up for a sequel that was never made. All in all, it's fluffy SF/Splattertainment. Good for rental. Description (Todd Knarr, todd.knarr@teamhbbs.com): Generic alien creature (self-proclaimed messenger of God) comes aboard a space station and begins killing everyone aboard by making them relive various 'evil' things they did during their lives. It gets somewhat bloody. At the end, our hero and heroine get condemned to 'Hell' for not being absolutely perfect (in the creature's eyes), and we're left hanging as they walk off to explore. Both worlds sought interaction, cooperation, and coexistance. But many cruel wars were repeated over and over again. Finally, representatives from both worlds signed a treaty. It was a kind of non-aggression treaty. Every several hundred years, there was a set armistice period. Now we are approaching the 21st century. Both worlds are on to sign another [500 year] peace treaty." To handle crimes committed by either side, the Yami (Dark) Guard is formed as an elite police force. The Guard is made up of men and women of both races - human and demon. The story centers on Renzabury Taki, a human male and member of the Yami Guard. He is teamed with Maki, a beautiful female demon. Their assignment is to guard Giuseppi Maiyart, a wizened old (lusty) man who must be present at the treaty signing. Amos (amos@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu) The plot is about a Japanese punk type kid in a strange and semi- surreal big city (maybe Tokyo). The art looks like Otomo on acid. Basically this kid begins to be followed around by a phantom train, first we see electric bolts on the tracks, then gradually ghostly images of an engine as the film progresses. Also some bad guys are after him and/or the train (I forget which and why). Eventually he confronts the train, gets run over by it, and sort of merges with it, and destroys the baddies. The most memorable scene (to me) occurred early on when the kid is making it with his girlfriend. Each time he thrusts, a nebulous female voice says "sex". As this progresses and he goes faster, we hear "sex...sex...sex-sex-sex", reminding one of the "choo...choo..choo-choo-choo" as a train gradually chugs out of the station and gains speed. Family legend says that a hero defeated a horrific demon long ago, and the demon was imprisoned here. The hero's sword was placed next to the demon to guard it. Tenchi finds the old sword...and a mummy. Since Tenchi broke the seals, the mummy rises. Frantically, Tenchi tries to reseal the shrine and escapes. Later, Tenchi is back at school. Tenchi escapes from the destroyed school...to find that Ryouko has decided to move in with him. Things get REALLY interesting when Aeka, Princess of the Jurai, comes to Earth looking for her brother...the long-dead hero who sealed Ryouko up the first time. Later, Matsuno introduces his new girlfriend to Morisaki. Her name is Rikako Muto. She is very good in sports and academically, but is a social outsider since she is a transfer student. In their last year in school, the class takes a trip to Hawaii. When Rikako's money is stolen, it is to Morisaki that she asks to help her. This doesn't go unnoticed by Matsuno, and cracks begin to appear in their friendship. This is a very real look at relationships, and how a single act may change them forever. Did a romantic triangle form? It's hard to tell. This TV movie compares well with better live-action dramas and outshines most anime. Every 3000 years, the "Chojin" (which is essentially a super-God of sorts) is born to unite the 3 worlds together. This series follows the journey of a boy from the Beast World named Amanojaku as he searches for the "Chojin". He settles on a human boy and girl (Nakumo and Akemi) who seem to be the key. Events unfold rapidly as demons also appear, looking for the "Chojin". The film is an edited compilation of the 1st OAV series. There is a 2nd OAV series which is a prequel of sorts. There are many scenes involving violent rapes, dismemberment, demon-induced gore, supernatural horror stuff, etc... NOTE: This series' prime focus seems to be on the graphic sex and violent scenes which permeates the series. The dates aired all came from Newtype. I have no knowledge about how accurate they are (being stuck on this side of the Pacific...) I tried to keep the original feel of the titles, and so they are sometimes a little on the strange side. Names that get used frequently are left in Japanese, with a literal translation put in paranthesis. Any suggestions for alternate translations are welcome. Trying to translate episode titles was one of the weirdest, most frustrating experiences I've had, so I would love to have any ideas on how to translate these better. I will update this list as I get more episodes, and will gladly forward updates to anyone who wants them.
