Dragonware Games

Dragonware Games was founded by Guido Henkel in the early 80's. They later changed their name to Attic.

Guido Henkel about his parser technology: The parser system I developed that time was data centric. The input string was analyzed and interpreted with binary search trees. Because german gramnmar is quite complex, the parser was quite sophisticated and i.e. capable of recognizing the context of a word. Having this information plus punctuation and usage of adverbs and adjectives the parser could really determine what was meant. In german language a different order of words might describe quite different things, but the parser was also able to cope with this. The dictionary of the parser had about 1500 words, but through its interpreter capabilities it seemed to have much more. Unknown words were ignored if they were not essential or the meaning of the input could be guessed without them. However if no subject or verb was found, the system returned an "unknown word" error.

Guido Henkel about his games: I would love to see the games being freely available. Unfortunately this is not in my hands, because the rights on the games are owned by the respective publishers. Hellowoon and Ooze are belonging to Ariolasoft, but I have no idea who got the rights after they vanished. And also my other games are owned by some publisher. That time the game business was quite hostile for us programmers. Some distributors were known for their exploitation, often even unwilling to pay the hard earned royalties. The continous disadvantaging in the first six or seven years eventually lead to the founding of Attic, together with Jochen Hamma and Hans-Jürgen Brändle.

They are or have been distributed by Ariolasoft.
